Alternative Christmas Specials

With the Christmas season now upon us it means that our televison screens shall be filled with sentimently and sugar sweet rubbish in the form of christmas specials. With that in mind I have created this thread to give you alternatives that athough set at or involving christmas but are light on God Bless us everyone sentiments.


The Goodies- Earthenasia
On Christmas eve the Goodies learn that at midnight, on the decision of world leaders, the world shall be blown up to put it out of its misery. The Royal family was seen leaving buckingham palace earlier that day by saturn v rocket. While Bill makes plans to spend his last half hour in debuachry and Greyhame contemplates that as a scientist he has already done every thing, the news hits Tim very hard. What follows is the revealing of the invetiable truth of the muppets (who Tim thinks are real), the curing of Tim inhabitions through anger and violence, Bill's acceptance of his true self and christmas cramed into ten minutes. You'll have to watch it yourself to see if the plan to blow up the earth is followed through.

Futurama- Xmas Story and Tale of two Santas
Usually it about saving santa or Christmas but in the future will you be saved from santa and this most feared of holidays.

DA KATH & KIM CODE
Telemovie version of this Australian cult comdey. Essentially just a very long episode that is set at Christmas. Kim and Brett go through relationship problems, Kath and Kel make a mockery of the carols by candellight institutaion and cause problems for Micheal Buble and as usual Kim's second best friend Sharon is unlucky in love. add to this a wonderful subplot about a stalker who seems to be the tour guide from the da vinci code tour Kath and Kel had recently took in europe as befitting the neo affluent. This plot eventaul lead to the the best jokes about the da vinci code ever, one some people never finish reading it, the the invetiable squel the da vinci code down under. Really shows that you souldn't take the thing as some knid of new religous text just a populr entertainment.

Doctor Who- The Christmas Invasion
It may end with the doctor having christmas dinner with the Tylers but to get to that point he had to battle aliens. And realise that its not the humans that need to be warned about the coming monsters. Its the monsters that have to be warned about the coming humans. Also hold the greatest arguement for the live christmas tree tradition.

Family Guy- A very special family guy freaking christmas
Peter stuffs up so much in this one because he does think Kiss saves christmas is the most important thing about the holiday.

Well I have a real soft spot for the Rankin/Bass movies (lol)... but the Futurama and Family Guy episodes sound pretty good!
