Family Guy

It's Family Guy. We know it, we love it. Talk away. Remember when Peter was tied up in a net hanging above all those monkeys? He goes: "How many dirty stinkin apes does it take to screw in a lightbulb?"...silence..."Three, one dirty stinkin ape to screw in the lightbulb, and the other two dirty stinkin apes to throw feces at each other."lol and then he starts with that stupid laugh of his. I was laughing so hard in that part I thought my gut would burst.

I liked it for a while, then I got tired of it. It made me think that nothing can beat the Simpsons

"I liked it when he got in a fight with the Chicken, it was both funny and awesome. The fight itself was pretty good concidering the fact that it was a cartoon. Plus the little things that made it funny all built up on eachother to make it really funny. And when he came back and fought Peter out ot nowhere. I'm glad they brought him back cuz at the end of the first one he's still alive you know?"

Re: Family Guy

This is one of my favorite shows. I'm glad to be one of those hardcore fans that watched the re-runs on Adult Swim and bought all the DVDs (I personally didn't like the movie...) so that it can come back on the air (and with Futurama coming suite, my TV life will be in bliss). I have many favorite quotes, but not as many as I do have scenes:

Do not try this at home. I think Seth got this idea from watching a video online about a guy on the street who would give anybody $100 if they drink what is in the bottle (and they don't know what it is). It's funny/scary how the guy said "What did you do to me?"...who wants to go through that kind of pain? Epitat for Pie

Peter's Prostate Exam Only watch the first minute of that video (that's the funniest part).

Now I love Family Guy just as much as the next guy, but you have to see that people are attracted to different kinds of humor:

I placed these in the order in which I like from "favorite" to "meh"

Family Guy: Many random scenes and flashbacks
South Park: A lot of up-to-date jokes about the media and pop-culture as well as fart-jokes.
Futurama: Sci-fi humor and references of the past (our present).
Simpsons: Crazy sceems and scenarios befall an "average" American town.
American Dad: Government cover-ups and worldwide problems.
King of the Hill: A normal Texas neighborhood that goes through mundane humourous antics.

Just because it's hillarious for you, it doesn't mean it's hillarious for everybody else. Everyone has different sets of humor. If you look at the top three of my list, you'll see that I like pop-culture/media jokes. But if you looked at one of my old high school roommate's list he likes King of the Hill, Simpsons, and South Park (just get to show you how we didn't got along when it comes to humor) in that order.

So please, understand that others have different opinions on humor, and none of the shows are "the best", they are just funny.

Re: Family Guy

Family Guy is hilarious. All of the dialouge and movements the characters have are so realistic and human-like. It doesn't even feel like a cartoon to me, it's fantastic. The animators and writers of Family Guy hit the nail on the HEAD. Sure there are a lot of flashback scenes, but to me they are almost always funny.

Re: Family Guy

I have to agree with them ezzlo. All oppinions aside, Family Guy is the best adult cartoon show on TV. It actually throws the Simpsons up in the air and then drop kicks them bloodily into the ground, followed by a brutal stomp on the balls.

I love Family Guy. I never had a cartoon that made me laugh every 2 mins or so. One of my favorite shows.

Re: Family Guy

I rarely laugh at Family Guy anymore. When it first came out, I thought it was funny, but couldn't watch it all that often because it kept getting shuffled around the schedule. Then they brought it back to a regular time slot and I could see it fairly regularly. That's when I realized that it wasn't all that funny anymore. The non-sequiter scenes just don't make any sense at all. They're all well and good if they have at least a little to do with what is going on, but that never happens. And they are oversued way too much. If you tried to play a drinking game every time some one said "Remember the time when..." (or some varient thereof) you would be dead by the end of the half hour. And most of the jokes in those non-sequiters have become exceedly unfunny and predictable.

They also really love to reuse jokes on that show. It's funny the first time. Maybe even funny the second. But when they show the same joke (Peter hurting himself and doing that hurt-breathing thing comes to mind) in episodes right after each other...it just seems stale. Oh, and for that joke, their sense of timing is atrocious. Jokes like that are meant to go on so long that they're funny at first, then get less funny, then all of a suddent they're funny again (a classic example that regularly gets butchered due to syndication is the rake-in-sideshow-Bob's-face bit from The Simpsons).

I'm also really annoyed with a lot of the voice acting. Since Seth MacFarlene does half or more of the voices, and they all use the same inflection as eachother; and it's really obvious it's one guy doing them. Hank Azaria does over a dozen regular voices on The Simpsons, but only rarely can I tell it's the same person doing them.

This probably makes it seem like I really hate Family Guy, which is not the case. I don't love it, but I don't hate it either. I think it's mediocre, at best.

Re: Family Guy

I need to get season five on DVD, hopefully it doesn't have the three episodes that make up the movie though cause we already have that. I think perhaps it doesn't because its only thirteen episodes. Meh as soon as I get my Wii, then I can afford the ludicris price of $40 dollars australian.

Re: Family Guy

Family Guy rules! I think it's the best animated show since Futurama. I gots Seasons 1 - 3, and my brother has 4 - 5! But it is great. Especially the recurring theme that everyone who falls over gets mangled in a hideous position. Genius. And Stewie was just on fire in Season 4! All in all, a great series.

thats how i see it. I like all of those shows. Family guy does have the occasional pop culture or history reference, Margot Kidder went crasy after having dnnier with the Griffin's instead of whatever the real reason was. it was Stewie who "convinced" OJ simpson to (or not to) murder his wife, when Lois was leraning tai jitsu whe beat up general Zodd and his two followers from the superman movie she even put them in that diamond thing. and stewie in the FG moive was somewhat based on the main character from 40 yr old virgin (or at least it seemed to parallel it slightly)
