Got back home a while ago, and I tried the following:
Copy Disc 1, 2, 3, and 4 from CloneCD to new folders. After that, I mounted Disc 1 to Daemontools (E: ). I ran FF8.exe and got the "No disc" message after trying to go through a new game. I figured I could edit the registry to make the DataDrive E: . Tried to boot Disc1, and no disc message once more.
I really don't know what to do anymore. I'm trying that stupid crack, and it doesn't work either. Is it really that hard to get this 1999 CD-ROM going? The files are right there, and I can't run them

Actually, I haven't done the crack renaming. But is it really THAT easy? What about the Disc files? What am I supposed to do with those?
EDIT: I ended up downloading ISO images of the game. Since I already own the PC version of Final Fantasy VIII, I don't feel guilty about it. Mounted the image on Daemon Tools and then edited the registry. Problem solved.
