Trying To Make A Website

No, I am not going for a crappy free forum and whatnot. I am shooting for a real website and forum. Also, thank you Nate for giving me this idea, if it wasn't for you... it would still be a wikipedia.

I am hoping to bring every Zelda Mastermind/site together into one site and forum. No, I am not combining them (that would be silly), I want to make a site taking about the Zelda website community and to expand it. The wesite would be used for critquing, rating, contests, bashing, praising, reviewing and much more. The name, of course, being "The Zelda Masterminds". (Or, something like that.)

I have never been a webmaster, except to a few fee forums... so I don't know anything about making a website. Right now, I am working on the domain issue. I am low-ish on money and my dad doesn't want me to take money out of the bank. So, I am hoping that Jason may host the site until I can pay for a real domain. If Jason doesn't agree, I'll try somewhere else. If that doesn't work, I will go to Bigdaddy.com, and see if I ca get a cheap domain. Afterwards, I try to use Wordpress or Joomla to make the site. Of course, than comes the horrible templates and skin.

So, yeah... I need A LOT of help pulling this off. I'm sure it will work if I try hard enough. Ever since the start, there has been many Zelda websites... but they were never truly connected. But now, there can be a place where all of the Zelda site commuinty comes together to one place. A very big load, I know, but I think I may just be crazy enough to try to pull it off.

I know HTML, CSS, and a bit of Javascript. I could easily brush up on my skills to help you.

But, of course, you're Austin, and I don't particularly like you. So tell me, how are you going to ensure that this site won't suck?

It will hopefully look nice and be a big hit, because it is about the Zelda website community. It will never die unless I fail at this. As long as there is atleast one Zelda website... it will live. There are countless members throughout the Zelda website community-- and all of them care about the website they joined. Since the site is talking about all the Zelda websites, they will atleast show interest in it, if not do more.

It is used to bring the Zelda communities together. The forum will be doing that, as well as being used to talk about things such as entertainment, etc.

Your whole concept depends on the existence of at least two other Zelda sites, without enough uses that some people might go to a different site looking for a zelda community, and stumble upon your site.

Of course, then they will promptly click a link and never go back.

Sorry to get off topic but....what is THAT?!

Well if you don't know much in the way of HTML or similar scripts, you could always use Dreamweaver, which is great for web design newbs.

Actually, I'm being truthful. Personally, this seems like a horrid idea to me. There's a reason I pick ZU to post in and not ZI. Mainly because I don't really enjoy ZI, so why would I want to interact with the people there? They're part of the reason I don't like it.

I know a bit of HTML, so, I can't help much, but, I can edit the pages a bit. Don't forget to have Hylian Legend and Hylian Fire in there. They are free for now, but I'm having trouble coding...

Well, good luck with this Austin. You'll be able to get the site up, but I sincerely doubt that all of the sites will willingly collaborate together like this. That just won't happen.

It definitely won't happen with it being hosted on the ZU server - other sites won't accept it as a mutual ground that way.

This site has existed for over a year now. It is open mainly to webmasters and high ranking staff of various Zelda sites. There are clues to its existence on many sites that take part in it. Even ZU and the wiki.
