That, and their horrible DRM locked-in-ness (iPods and iTunes, for example), and their false advertising, and their business tactics. Mac OS is damn sweet (minus part of being locked-in).

But yeah, that's why there's osx86.

iTunes and the iPod are not DRM locked anymore.

But, yes, OS X86 is very very sexy. I'm Building a computer soon, and I'm going to go pick up a copy of iLife and Final Cut Studio.

One quick question. Is there a thing kinda like WINE for Mac OS that will let you run Windows applications? I want to run the Zune software.

Bull****. It's a mess using iPod without iTunes and I refuse to use iTunes. As soon as I plug in my iPod and I have iTunes running on the computer I plug it in, my album art gets scrambled and my music gets in a weird order, which means I have to fix it with another program - but sometimes that doesn't work, which basically means reformatting the iPod - and that's a tenth of the trouble I have. Great, eh?

Be sure to pick the right parts - I'd get an Atheros card if you want wireless.

Why do you want to run the Zune software?

Re: What operating system do you use?

I use Windows Visa Ultimate. It's not the best OS in the world, but it's worked fine for me. I plan to upgrade to Windows 7 when it is released.

Re: What operating system do you use?

I have Mac OS 10.5.7. I like mac better than windows, but I do think they are overpriced.

It just seems to me like everything is simpler on mac.

It took a while to get used to the differences, but now I feel like I am more competent with mac than with windows.

Simply because Zune software isn't made by Apple.
Anyway, your best bet would be to use Parallels.

I have no idea, and I don't care. I care more about actual functionality, not as much about how to make it look/sound good.

Which is the only thing OS X is good at...

Re: What operating system do you use?

Alright, when I get to chameleon boot menu and try to boot OS X, it restarts the computer. If I select Windows, it does nothing.

I guess I'll try a reinstall.

Re: What operating system do you use?

Oh gross, you're using chameleon.
It shouldn't restart the computer unless the disc isn't readable.

The disc isn't even in.

Anyway, I think I figured it out - I used the kernel made for Xeon, C2D, and C2Q processors when I have a Pentium one... I'll try again tomorrow with the correct kernel.

Re: What operating system do you use?

I use multiple systems. My main operating system right now is Mac OS X 10.5.7. I love it so much. 83 I use it mostly for my internet needs and as my work laptop (for my photoshop stuff, movies, music and of course, my stories).

But I also have a tower comp. that has Windows XP 2000 edition. It used for storing simple files and to scan my traditional drawings/ pictures. It's hardly used for any thing else other than those things. It doesn't have internet since the tower itself originally had Windows '98 so the thing is REALLY old.

I'm rethinking on upgrading my tower to more recent things. Of course, I'd work on it slowly and working my way up on it. Even though I do dislike windows... I wouldn't dare get Vista >.<.

Try a real PC later - I'd recommend waiting until Win7 is out, though. :3

Considering the age of your PC I'd recommend getting most pieces in september/october when the i5's are out, SSD's are cheap, and Win7 gets introduced.
