Re: Internet Connection problems.

Might be your router/modem (if you don't have a router) or your ISP.

Try unplugging your modem (and router, if you have one) for a minute, then turn them back on and see if the problem is fixed.

Re: Internet Connection problems.

There are hundreds of reasons why you could keep losing your conncetion, and you only need one of these reasons to break your connection, so i doubt very much that anyone will be able to give you a definite quick fix with the information you've supplied.
However, if you think yourself to be technically savvy, and know your way around a good part of your computer hardware and software, try, through trial and error, to find your problem and fix it, but be warned one small mistake could make things worse if your not careful.
But other than that, best thing to do would be get in contact with your isp and if they cant help there are tons of websites (for when your internets working) with real experts on such problems and they should be able to help.

Re: Internet Connection problems.

This happens to me all the time. My CP has lost connection with the internet 7 time in the last 50 minutes.

My phone chord hooks right into that box, then to the computer.

Re: Internet Connection problems.

Start at your plugs something might've come unplugged. Turn off your computer for five minutes after plugging in something that might've come out. Check your router if you have one. If your router is the problem turn off your router for 1 minute and the problem should be fixed. If that doesn't work I can't help!

Re: Internet Connection problems.

If it only happens at a specific time then odds are it's your ISP.

If it's your ISP then there's not really anything you can do beyond calling them to complain.

Ok.
I guess if that's all I can do, that's what I'll have to do.

Re: Internet Connection problems.

When your router next drops out, go to the router admin panel (usually by typing 102.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 into a web browser. find the router status button and take a screenshot of the noise margin.

If your noise margin is low (about 5.0db or less) then there's a lot of network activity at your local telephone/broadband exchange, meaning that less of the exchange's bandwidth is available to you because of the amount being taken by other computers on your neighborhood network. If this is the case then there's nothing you can really do about it I'm afraid.

If your noise margin is higher (10db or up) then it's either a router problem or further up the line to your isp's main datacentres.

[edit] This is a tl;dr version of what John said.

Im sure you've been told to already, but check all your physical connections, and properly.
If that doesn't help, call your isp, but they're infamous for being some of the least helpful people on the planet. And when they cant help you look up on the net for help sites, they're generally fairly helpful but sometimes its hard to find a good answer to a particular problem, making things get rather frustrating.
If your still struggling for a connection, go on to (this is the sort of thing i was talking about when i said only if you know your hardware and software well enough) going into software settings and clearing up any discontinuities or other visible issues in your software, but be prepared that in doing this you could possibly accidently make things worse.
