I can agree that the differences between the DS Lite and the DSi aren't that many. But the differences between DS and DS Lite make the DS Lite a usefull improvement. (i'm too tired right now to look them all up, but feel free to Google )

btw, to most of you who posted here: I mean no disrespect to either one of you, but i think it's unfair to bash people just because they happen to actually like the DSi when you don't. I know i said similar things about the PSP, but they were simple facts you should think about before you start insulting the DSi. I for one realize that both handhelds have their issues, and all i've heard you say about the DSi is stuff like "ZOMG RETARDED CAMERA LOLOL!!1!1!!!"

Personally, i would very much like to just drop the discussion about the PSP and leave this thread to the people who like the DSi and have bought it for a good reason. I don't care who likes the PSP or for what reasons they like it, but don't come here just to bash the DSi then.

There i said it

1. Larger screen size, smaller and more ergonomic overall design, better backlighting, lighter, moved the microphone, changed the shape of the stylus, changed the power button etc.

2. Larger screen size again, something with the sound, added two cameras, changed the software, added DSiWare, I dunno, some other ****.

Re: Nintendo DSi

The Nintendo DSi has many good features. It has improved however; I wouldn't recommend anyone purchasing this handheld console if they already have a DS lite or the old DS.

I get the feeling the life span of this product might be short. :/

Except that you can pay half of those low priced items and get the same functionality. You're paying double the price if not more for a ****ty camera.

Not really.

This isn't the serious discussion board.

Some people buy things, some people don't, it doesn't have to be a great big factual debate.

The DS Lite's screen is the same size as the original DS's. The size only increased by .5 inches total with the DSi.

The differences between the DS Lite and the DSi:

4x the RAM.
2x the CPU speed.

Better Audio Processor.
Better Wireless Card.
Louder Speakers.
Camera.
Slightly Larger Screens.
Built-in Storage.
Upgradable Firmware.
SD Card Expansion.
Smaller Battery.
No GBA Port.

The DSi is $170.
The PSP is $170.

Maybe it's different in Belgium, but the two systems are the exact same price.

The PSP 2000 onward aren't really that fragile.

The DSi doesn't take as long to charge because the battery is smaller and doesn't last as long as the DS Lite's. That isn't a feature. It's a defect.

I'm not going to buy a DSi. My DS Lite works fine. My iPod works fine. My camera works fine. And they all work better than the DSi.

Re: Nintendo DSi

I'm not likely to get a DSi unless they come out with a special-edition Zelda one like they did with the GBA SP and MC / DS Lite bundled with PH.

Re: Nintendo DSi

The DSi has an SD card slot. I imagine an installable emulator hack will be released within the first two months of the American release.

That's honestly a big enough draw for me, I could buy an SD card big enough to hold the majority of the SNES ROM library. You can do the same thing on the DS Lite or even the GBA, but the card reader, USB connector, and flash card costs far exceed the extra 50$ it takes to buy a DSi over a lite. The SD slot makes handheld emulation easy, affordable, and accessible.

Custom firmware is going to actually make the system good. For example, WiFi Pictochat, perfect Gameboy (all systems) emulation through hardware (GBA) and software (VC). Maybe even a Friend Code-less online gaming system that somebody makes up. And there's a good chance that Nintendo won't be Sony with the PSP, adding new features to prevent the need to use CFW, so CFW will be the only way to go.

Because you can play "chunks" of games on a 20 minute ride on the bus; you can't really watch "chunks" of a movie on a 20 minute ride.

((okay, technically you can, but would you?))

Then watch series. Take Prison Break, Lost, or House, for example?

Just buy the games, put them on your computer, and play. There's no missing out here.
(Note: I understand the viability of handhelds, I'm just playing the devils advocate here)

My current DS Lite is in 2 pieces. I am also short $30...

What if the DSi's download system let you download old gameboy games like the Wii lets you with old NES and SNES. Its definantly a possibility, and I can think of a lot of games I would like to get... Pokemon Yellow probably...

I am only guessing, but I think Nintendo will have a good selection of GB, GBC, and GBA available through their download service.
