Question Help installing router!

I'm getting a router for my birthday, but I don't know how to install it. What do you do to install, hook up, work with Wii, etc. Any help is appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Re: Help installing router!

Every router is different. Some take forever and some are fairly easy. When you get your router and you're unsure of how to connect it, just call up the manufacture. They should be able to help.

That's what I did.

Re: Help installing router!

Most routers are quite simple to set up, you hook up the Wii and your computer to it, then connect it to your modem. Then follow the setup instructions they give you.

(By the way, is this a wireless router? If so you'll need to make sure that your computer has a wireless network card.)

9 times out of 10 it'll then work fine. The other times it'll begin a fight to the death with your modem, refuse to acknowledge that you have a PC, and will slowly devour your soul.

Re: Help installing router!

Plug the modem in to your router.

Then router plugs in to computer, and other devices that need a network.

Then, open a web browser, and navigate to 192.168.1.1

If that doesn't work, try 192.168.0.1

It should have a number like that on the side/bottom of the router.

It's pretty self explanitory, you set up the basic network settings (SSID, WEP key for wireless, etc. etc.)
