But if they don't offer an alternative to piracy by providing
imediate and legal downloads, then there's often no alternative way to obtain it other than piracy. THey should look at what radiohead did.....
Considering digital media costs
siginificantly less to duplicate than CD's, there's no reason to charge $1 per song. My iPod could probably hold 20,000 songs. Does steve jobs really expect me to pay $20,000 from the itunes store to fill up my ipod?

also, there is usually less risk and better quality that comes with a legal download than a pirated version. Now if companies would only realize that people don't want to wait 6 months for the DVD version of a movie/tv show, then they could be one step ahead of the pirates in getting the online content available
