What's a CR?

Windows help.
I have *sigh* Windows Vista. And I need help, go figure.
The problem is this: My Taskbar keeps flashing on and off. It's locked, and auto-hide is off. Everytime it flashes it "pauses" my whole system. My desktop icons are gone. Random files keep opening at random times. ex: My Documents, Recycle Bin, Favorites hen I try to open these myself they only stay on the screen for 5 seconds. I've tried everything I can think of. The problem started last night. I have no idea what the problem is. I've run Virus-scans, and all that stuff, and the problem is proceeds to exist, and it's pissing me off!

I have run numerous spy-sweepers, virus-scans, etc. and nothing has found anything.
Anything that I open apart from Internet Explorer, AIM, the virus scanners, won't stay open for longer than about 3 seconds. This only happens when I log-in under my name. Everybody else's (there are 4 others) work perfectly fine.

How far back exactly would that be? The last time something was downloaded?

Just choose the last point saved in it. You may have to uninstall an update, but you could just reinstall it afterwards. Since it doesnt sound like it was an update, it shouldn't cause problems once it's reinstalled. |

Post the log that it creates here Since it doesn't do anything in other user ids, I assume safe mode under your username works fine ? Preferably you want to find and fix the problem so it doesn't happen again, rather than do a system restore and risk it happening again. No sighing for Vista! It's dead sexy! VISTA LOVE

Tidying up registry might also help. You can download a complete FREE application called "Glary Utilities" It's 100% freeware and 100% very useful. There is no Spyware crap in it too.

pop in windoze disk select upgrade install.
keeps your current stuff and basically swaps out all the system files. I do it when I'm too lazy to reformat.

Agreed with Orici, System Restore will most likely resolve the issue. At least it does for me =)
