It's not that people are really begining to use their cell phone in replace of their computer, but that cell phone technology is increasing to the point that for people on the go constantly, they don't have to sit and use a clunky laptop or desktop. And, only certain phones would you even begin to think about using in replace of a computer. Mainly the blackberrys, and other proffessional phones with the larger than usuall screens. If you have a normal flip-phone or slide phone, the screen is just really too small for you to do much of anything besides log onto a messanger, check a few emails, and see the news/weather. Size is a large factor that plays into that.

I've noticed that the personal, portable computers are becoming more popular. In fact, many of the teachers at my school carry around these sony computers that fit in any bag, much lighter and more portable than a laptop, but gives the same experience as a computer. There's more of a chance of those becoming more oftenly used than cell phones.

I agree, but sales mostly in japan have gone down for computers. all of this is the evil work of cell phones, they have taken over things like facebook, myspace, e mail, ect. so computers are falling. And reports have said that if they keep going on like this that computers will be nothing to the power of cell phones.

Cell phones have the potential to become quite powerful, but if they are going to take over the power of computers as you say you have heard from a source, that source is dead wrong. It will take at least another 20-30 years before there is any chance of a cell phone becoming powerful enough to take the job of a full computer.

That's what I'm saying, only put into words that people who have lower comprehension levels will actually have a chance of understanding. I use my phone for texting, calling, and the occasional picture.

Yes I have. And if you worked the position I do, you'd see what changes have happened within the past month alone. But some new technology you just can't release to the public yet because it's too much power too fast. Change does things to populations of people together. The speed of the change I will say has slowed down since the first major 'zomg we invented a computer. let's sell it and make it a craze' has ended. Now we're more in the phase of 'how can we better technology to change and adapt to the working class population of today?'.

I'm still sticking with my 20 years theory.

Would you believe me if I told you that once the internet was actually created, it wasn't allowed in the general public for a while? Well, believe it. At first it was used for national security connecting to people in different countries to help boost continential security. It was thought by someone, or some group, that by giving the internet to the general public would be a bad idea. It gradually was introduced, the networks expanded, and now around half the population of America has internet access.

The internet is a major part of technology, and the main reason why computers thesedays are so popular. This entire thread has to deal with the internet in a way, if you think about it.

Thats not what I mean. I mean that the internet is so large and can do so much that it was held back. We are talking about cell phones here.

Look at me! I have a cell phone, and not going to take over the world or double post!

Yes, people using cell phones in replace of computers. Nowdays the only reason the usual person would use a computer without internet would be to type up a report of some sort to print out. That's hard on a cell phone. People who use their cell phones as computers use it for the internet access.

Yes, this is your thread. But we have posting rules here against double posting. As stated in these rules:
Quote:
No spamming (including: unecessary single-word posts; intentional double posts)
Spamming basically means useless or unwanted posting, such as repeatedly making off-topic replies; posting excessively about the same thing (eg: asking people to visit your site), persistently making short or one-word replies, replying to your own posts or making multiple polls in a single forum in one day. "Rent-a-modding," which means posting in a thread to announce that it is against the rules, or it is going to get locked, etc. is considered spamming and is not allowed.
I am technically Rent-a-modding with this post, but if you don't want your posts deleted or the thread closed I'd suggest keeping on topic.

The only reason I didn't add that to my list is because that could be controversal. The more recent games for PC are connecting the player with others around the world using the internet. It's mainly only older games and those that are auto-installed on the computer (Solitare, Freecell, ect. ) that don't involve connecting with other real-live players.
