Printer Problems

Alright, so I recently bought a printer ($12.50 -no major loss, used, tested by old user said to work)

It's a lexmark Z611.

Here is my problem:
It doesn't know what color is what
It makes reds into pinkish purples, greens into blues, black barely prints, yellow doesn't show up, brown is pink, orange is pink, but blue remains blue.

I haven't gotten new print cartridges yet, but I was wonderning if there was something else that could be wrong.

Done that once before. I'm convinced I can get this one to work.

You could always get those cheap, do-it-yourself ink refill packages.

It seems the printer needs ink. I suggest finding a ride.

(I was just kidding around by the way)

Did it ever print correctly?
If it did, it's almost definitely your cartridge. If not, then you should try deleting and reinstalling the software (drivers) that came with the printer.

Exactly, it sounds like either a cartridge or driver issue.

So, if it's ever printed correctly we can safely say that it's drivers, if it never has then it's (possibly) the cartridge.

If you have time to have as many posts you do, and time to find this printer, you've got time to get a new cart.

Anyway, try either a new cart. or re-fill it at an ink place around, something like cartridge world or something.

Also, try going into the preferences and try printing a test page, sometimes it'll tell you if it's the computer or the printer making the mistake.

But it sounds to me like it's a low ink problem. Otherwise, just check the rollers to see if the page is getting caught up or check the opening of the ink carts. Maybe they're blocked and not allowing the correct ink through.

I think you got "never" and "ever" backwards

Printer drivers and cartridges are a gigantic unintuitive proprietary mess and are not worth the effort unless the printer is high-end. Anything under $100 is disposable.

It printed correctly on the original owners computer, but not mine yet. I may try reinstalling the driver, perhaps that is a good idea.

You'd think so wouldn't you, but despite my (ridiculously) high post count, I actually don't have that much time. I am actually rather busy with schoolwork, and as is, I stumbled upon the printer (wasn't searching for it).

Anyways, I'll try and get a new cartridge and see how that works.
