PSP Battery

I've been wondering why my PSP battery won't work for months. I know batteries can stop working until charged, but I never knew they could die and not be reused.

My question is:

Is my battery rechargeable, or do I have to buy a new one?

Maybe Sony made these batteries to die so they'd get people to buy more batteries.

My PSP battery wasn't dying when it stopped working completely. And I've tried using the charger for power, without the battery in. I've tried charging the battery for days. Nothing

P.S. My charger is lost now. -_-

Help!

Try putting a different PSP battery (perhaps a friend's) into your PSP. If it still doesn't work, then it's your PSP.

Tried it, didn't work.

He put his battery into mine, of course it didn't work.

That was so long ago, I don't think I remember if my battery didn't work on his, though.

I suppose it's possible to get a dud one now and again. My question is, How old is your PSP? If it's less than 1 year old I would get a replacement console straight away. If your PSP is past its warranty period then I would look on eBay for a cheap replacement battery or something. The battery should definitely be rechargeable as should last ages. My PSP is 2 years old and is working on the same battery.

Mine is 2 years old, and my battery died a year ago. 2 years, and my PSP is in perfect condition, if that has anything to do with it.

I'm doomed unless I can get money to get a new battery.

You could do something evil I guess. How about swapping your battery with a mates when he/she isn't looking? That isn't very nice, I shouldn't have said that.

I have no money to buy it, nor can I ask someone to do it for me.

Then you did yourself in. You should have sent your PSP in while it was still under warranty.

So what we've decided, then is that it's the PSP, not the battery. As already mentioned, your next options are either to try to find a replacement, cheap, or to find out how much Sony charges for a repair.

I can't mail anything to anyone. My mom doesn't allow me too. -_-

Otherwise, I wouldn't be complaining about this. I'll try to find out how much they want for a repair though.

PSP bateries are removeable. Meaning that you have to buy a new one. Either it suffered an incident or you didn't use it for quite some time.
