Not a that big a deal really - most TVs nowadays have a monitor input anyway, for way less money than that. I guess the res isn't as high, but they're waaay cheaper and u can use them as a TV

Woohoo! Apple has offered a much prettier looking 30" HD monitor since June of 2004. Not to rain on the parade or anything, 'cause the Dell one is cheaper. But keep in mind: the Dell one is CHEAPER.

'The Dell one' is always cheaper when it comes to anything Apple-related :p

As someone already said, I'd rather just buy a flat screen tv, then you have a monitor and tv And free space since you'll have one less monitor/tv in your room.

those TVs are low resolution.

OMFG 1080p is so great.

1080p is less than half of that monitors resolution.

that said this class of monitors has been out for several years now, nothing new.

they use the same panels and offer similar image quality. in the IT community almost noone even bothers to consider apple monitors since they're a horrible ripoff

I realise that it isn't as high resolution, and I did point it out in my post. However, 1280 x 1080 isn't exactly terrible, and seeing as you're looking at around a thousand quid for a 30 inch monitor, and you can get a TV of a similar size for three or four hundred quid, the TV isn't exactly a bad option. Plus you'd need a beast of a machine to run a game in that resolution anyway

Exactly. Having an Apple sticker on something invariably increases the price of it, whether for a worthwhile reason or not.

A nice resolution I must say but the response time is crap. Why not 8ms or less?

I agree with ToT. The refresh rate would make it pretty poor for gaming. Which is probably what it's intended for being 30 inch.

It does look nice though, but why not get a top notch projector if you're gonna spend that kind of money. Hell, you could pick up an AMAZING projector for that price. ^_^

Holy ripoff. 1200 bucks. I'm happy with my two 17"s. Still, it'd be pretty badass to play CoD4 on that.

You'd be surprised. Even if you had a graphics card that displays 60fps, the monitor refresh rate probably wouldn't like it very much. Especially with a fast moving game like Call of Duty4. ^_^

not really. it's got around double the surface area and a fair deal OVER double the resolution

to me resolution, matters more than physical size.

and it depends on the game as far as going at that resolution, but even then you can scale down to lower resolutions.1280*800 is still techncially "sharp" on that panel because each pixel traces.
