Macbook FTW.
I've never seen the point of MacBooks.
They're far to expensive and overpriced and I'd take a real laptop over it anyday.

Its funny how almost all of mac haters have never used a mac before. They say they have, and maybe some have, but most of the time they haven't . I used to hate macs too, but now I could never switch back to a pc.

Not a lot of people can try them because they're overpriced.

How would you know that they are lying? You're just pulling bs out of your behind. If they say they've used a mac before then who are you to say they haven't?

Macs are definitely overpriced pieces of poo

Umm...not sure if you were referring to me as a Mac-hater there, or if you were just using the fact that I mentioned a Mac as a stimulus for what you said?

it's a well known fact that apple charges a fairly significant premium. just look at their yearly sales figures and profit reports. nothing new there.

that said, more or less every end user system apple makes right now would technically be considered a PC clone.

there is nothing wrong with being a PC clone. I'm using one right now. heck I'm willing to bet you are too.

as it is now, current macintosh computers are all PC clones. same goes for apple's laptops.

think back to a few years ago. If someone were to make their own computer and isntall linux on it... it'd still be a PC. In this case the only predominant difference is the operating system. While one could argue that intel's current systems use EFI whereas mainstream PCs use BIOS, the point is moot as EFI was designed by intel and it was implemented in PCs by gateway before apple.

if you think that Mac OSX and apple's tech support is worth paying a 30-50% markup for... go for it that's your descision. Just elt it be known that it technically isn't illegal to build a PC with exactly what you want and to install OSX yourself(so long as you bought the OS yourself)

and FYI I have used macs before and I've been using them since I was a kid. The mac lab... let's just say lockups weren't all that great and it happened all to comonly in OS8, OS9 and OSX is hardly exempt either. and alt+shift+3 to take a screen shot isn't exactly user friendly as compared to hitting "print screen" though I heard they're looking for another key combination so that's progress. Also neo office is a horrible abomination. Crashed while saving a half hours worth of work(note that this was immediately before a class had started) as it stands no platform is perfect. I personally find dual booting linux/windows to be a good solution. I get my games and I get better stability and security than OSX. OSX in and of itself is a decent midway point between the two and for many consumers it's a great choice. Heck I'd have recommended a mac to my computer illiterate step father over the Dell he got.

^the first ever virus was written for what type of computer???^

the whole virus thing is blow out of proportion. I don't even run an antivirus. I get by with a simple 100kb script blocker and that's all. it's surprisingly effective as well.

basically the whole virus thing an advertising thing from apple moreso than anything else. Any technically inclined user basically doesn't need to worry about viruses. You might need to worry for your mother, or your grandfather or the dumb kid down the street, but as for myself... no issues. and should I have an issue... a fresh windows install is one CD away.

apple's biggest marketting ploy is "it's not windows"
big wow that's true of... everything else... again I run linux. windows is far from perfect it's big selling point is it's support. In windows, things just work. That's because of microsoft's market domination. vendor lock in is both a blessing and a cuirse to the consumer. we have an inferior OS in many aspects but things work. 3rd parties make their drivers for windows first, OSX and linux get handmedowns and are treated as not second class but 3rd class, most programs are not based off of a unix system. I can buy more or less any piece of hardware and it will work. Windows has the desktop industry, linux and mainstreme BSD(OSX is based off of BSD but except in niche markets it makes a relatively poor work station OS as far as productivity is concerned) have the server and workstation industries.

FYI I don't hate macs, they have their place and that's probably in portables. laptops don't have much power. they're general use machines. macbooks are rather well polished and very well implemented I'm saying that from first hand experience. the quality might not be exceptional, but the sheer degree of integration is. Laptop side... everything is proprietory and general use is king. That makes the market there rather good for apple's platform... and laptops are the future more and more people are buying them over desktops. And the moment apple sells their systems at competitive prices I might even bite on.

The Mac/PC argument is so f***ing old. I can't believe that people can still be arsed to go on just repeating the same old arguments over and over again.

Can't we all just get along? XD

I don't see a Mac/PC arguement anywhere.
