Installing Windows on my Macbook.

So yesterday... or the day before, I just realized that I have all the software necessary already on my mac to run Windows. So, I run upstairs to the case where all our computer stuff is stored, hoping to find the Windows XP disc.

It turns out I don't have it. We called the shop where we got it from, and they said they don't give them out anymore. Which is weird, becuase for some odd reason, we had 3 copies of the Windows 98 installation CD :S

So, to be honest with you, I'm not going to spend 100 + dollars on an operating system I already have so I'm just going to download it.

Once its downloaded, how do I go about burning it onto a disc, so that its like an exact copy of the windows installation disc. Do I just copy all the data to the disc, or do I need to make it an image or something... :S

And if this gets locked for illegalness, someone please PM me.

in order to do this basically burn the ISO to the disc with an imaging program like alcohol 120% nero etc.
then install and reuse your existing product serial number. If you do not have your serial number you're SOL as far as free and legal options go.

^ Yeah, they said we got some certificate. I'm sure it has the key on it.

So I need to search for an ISO file containing Windows, correct?

more or less, then put it onto a disc. it woulfd have to be an identical version for your key to work however.

If you have to, you can find a cracked version of Windows on a torrent website so you wont need a license key. If you go this way, you wont be able to get any updates from Microsoft because of the *cough cough* dubious nature of the copy. And thats all Ill tell you about that.

And yes, you need to burn the image to a CD; burning the individual files wont get you anywhere.
