Invincible Virus

Alrighty then. There is a very annoying virus on my computer. When on the Internet, every time a page loads, there is a fake security alert saying that I need to download something to counter-act a trojan. This just eats up time, having to close it non-stop. And everytime I googlesearch something, pornography results show up, and anything else "Cannot be found".

I have Norton antivirus, and I have completed a full system scan, deleted the inevitable viruses that always are present, but the problem persists. I have deleted all temporary internet files, cookies and the like, still no success.

What do I do?

Press the self-destruct button. You'd be doing your computer a favor.

Try opening system processes and seeing if you can find it there.

I'd try and find out what each individual process on your computer is, this way you can find out which process is the virus and needs to be ended, and there is most likely something in your registry telling your computer to open the virus, so you'll need to find the registry key and remove it, therefore the virus wont open on bootup anymore.

To get into the registry go to Start > Run and type regedit, then on the left you must drop-down the following ones in this path.

DO NOT DO ANYTHING ELSE, MESSING WITH THE REGISTRY CAN MESS UP YOUR PC.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion > Run

Right click where it says Run on the left and click Export, change the file type from .reg to .txt and save it and send it to me in a PM, i'll try and find the little bugger for you as you can't do Google searches yourself, i'll then tell you which one to delete to hopefully remove it.

Thanks for all your help, guys! I checked in my Internet Add-ons and there was a multitude of shady "FunWebProducts" there. I deleted them, and the problem has since been rectified.

Oh god..This once happened to me..Not funny...Well...The "Invinsible virus" acts as a trigger. Everytime you remove the Present viruses..This "Invinsible virus" creates new data of theese present viruses.. I had to reformat my computer... Oh..And there's supposedly a trigger to the trigger. If you shut down the main process of the trigger. Another Trigger (Which somehow hides itself in the Process listing) activates the 1st trigger again... So you're pretty much screwed unless you somehow find the trigger to the trigger and remove that. But maybe there's a trigger to the trigger to the trigger to the trigger...Who knows? If i were you..I'd make backup data of all necessary files and then i'd just reformat the comp.

EDIT:I just saw the problem had been solved..Well i'll keep my post incase someone else gets stricken by this virus..

Sounds like you've got a case of SmitFraud or something similar. AVG might be able to get rid of it, or Spybot: Search & Destroy, but that virus is quite persistent. One of the more effective ways to get rid of it is with SmitFraudFix, which can be downloaded here. Follow the detailed instructions on the web page - the process takes a while to complete. Even then, that's no guarantee. Most malware is easy to get rid of, but some of it likes to jump between networked computers and hide traces in system files only to recreate itself when its other files are deleted. If you can't get rid of it, ultimately you might need to do a fresh install of Windows.

One of the best last resort methods to getting rid of viruses is booting into linux (ubuntu live CD) and running either avg or f-prot [command line I think]. This course of action is recommended for getting rid of viruses that are capable of crippling antivirus programs or the entire OS, however if there is a simpler method available it should definitely be tried first.

my usually solution is placing all valuable data on a separate partition and just reformatting the windows partition. fixes stuff 99% of the time. Atleast as far as most spyware and adware is concerned.

also use a javascript blocker on your webbrowser... and don't use internet explorer under an administrative account, heck better yet avoid using it at all.

I hear Avast is a good antivirus, perhaps one you should look into for the future.

It was the only one that managed to successfuly remove a virus from a friend's computer after he tried all sorts of different ones. (Like, McAffeeee, Norton and AVG etc)
