SP1 for Vista?

Umm. . . I've never really had to experience upgrading SP's because I was fortunate to get a computer that already had SP2 for Windows XP.

But SP1 hasn't been released yet for Vista, and as some people already know I have Vista. So how does this work? Is the update free for SP1? Or do you have to purchase a software to use it? Or are SPs even upgradabe? Will I be forced to purchase a new Vista computer to get the new Service Pack for Vista when it comes out? I really need these questions asnwered.

It's a free update... Just a bit bigger. I suppose you will have to enter the original authentication key on the download site to verify your copy.

OK thanks! Oh and one more question will the service pack support all versions of Vista, like Home Premium, Home Basic, Home Buisness, etc?

Yes

Ofc it may differ as some may have more Bugs that need to be fixed as some
versions have more features then others.

Windows can tell if your a pirate without entering any(additional)information at time of update.

The update itself is just going to take a while to install since it's large

they only take a minute or so, they're not that big, just a few hundred MB.

Re: SP1 for Vista?

I got SP2 for Windows XP on a disc directly from Microsoft. Free.
Throw the disc in and install, no doubt Vista's many many service packs to come will be similar.

So wait you need a disc to get the software, couldn't I just get the software directly from A Microsoft or Windows site?

And thanks for the help. . .

Microsoft was offering on disc for all those poor 56k Windows XP users. I still had broadband at the time. But still ordered the disc because I could. It will no doubt just come through Windows Update, you've got nothing to worry about what-so-ever.
