New MSN Virus

Well there is a new MSN virus going around and the carrier will send you a message saying "Holy s**t, look at this, then an url with you're email address in" don't click it.

Ok theres the warning, but if anybody has had this before could you please explain some symptoms of clicknig the link, because whilst' I was copying and pasting it I.E. opened but I closed it before the page managed to get off the white loading screen, would that have been enough time for it to infect me, can anybody tell me how to remove if so, I scanned using AVG and got nothing, anybody please?

possibly a fake login page. how did the message appear?

Yep I herd of it, I wouldn't say it's new things like this happen quite a lot on msn.

They have those things on AIM all the time, you learn to just ignore them and kinda know when they're coming and be able to recognize them. Don't freak out, just ignore them.

that virus is not that new. I got it a while back many many times. Then again that was back when I waas actually on msn more than actually doing other stuff... But ethier way, it is a virus, it killed my computer (my idiot of a sister clicked it), and don't click it... Stupid old virus...

Actually, most of the time it isn't people purposly trying to send you a virus. For some idiotic reason, the people who come up with the chat server thingys find it really amusing to watch people suffer with thier computer from a virus, so they will just start the virus.

Really stupidly put, the people want your computer to die and you toget a new one.

But for those few stupid idiots who actually purposfuly send you a virus, I don't know what could possibly help them =/

I don't see why this wouldn't be true; messenger viruses are nothing new.

I have this, and a person i know sent it to me, and i thought nothing of it. My friend has it to from a person HE knows well too. All it's dont for me is (now) VERY infrequently changed my homepage to graphicpipeline.org or something, and we get these small little pop up windows maybe once every 4 days that go away with just a single click. So it's not REALLY annoying, but I would like it removed.

99.99999999999% of viruses will not physically harm your computer. You will damn near never have to get a new computer because of a virus.

Viruses get easy to clean out after you do it for a while. I'm my family's computer b****. They get viruses on their computers and I go there to fix them. I like doing it though. I enjoy searching and finding the problems then fixing them.

My wife gets these types of things all the time. She knows not to click on them. I never get anything because I don't usually sign in.

JordanKnight, you're probably safe. If AVG didn't pick up anything and you closed it before the page finished loading, I'd say you're pretty safe. Just take the advice of Wolfen and if you don't know who sent you the message, don't open it.

Rule No. 1. If you recieve an email from anyone other than a contact you know or Hotmail, or a website you know is trustworthy (for example, Zelda Universe) then just simply DON'T read it. There's no reason to read a message that says suspicious things in its title or isn't from a person you know, is there? Sure curiousity is leading you to read it, but just don't.

then ethier my computer got the .1 or something percent and ruined the computer to nothingness, or a dinosaour came and smashed my computer to death, without crushing it... which is more possible?

You just don't know how to reformat and restore your Operating System.

The virus may corrupt your hard drive files, but the actual hardware is intact. Viruses will not screw over your hardware.
