Help with my computer, not booting properly

Hey, i was wondering if someone here could help me out.
When i boot up my computer, well, the monitor goes to standby, and when i listen to my headphones it doesnt give the sound as if its going into windows.
i get no visuals whatsoever
if i reset and/or power off/power on it a couple of times, i can get a little bit of visuals, gives an error of "Overclocking failed, load normal settings and continue"
i for a fact KNOW that i havent done anything that has anything to do with overclocking, i did nothing, but well, i cant get into it whatsoever, not in the bios, nothing
the monitor's fine since it works with other computers

i tried a different graphics card, but it gave the same error.
so before i spend money on something that might not even fix it, i hope people here could help me out, would be much appreciated ^^

(p.s.: typing this on my parents pc)

Re: Help with my computer, not booting properly

Yo foamz I've never heard of this error but it would be helpful if you could tell me what type of processor and motherboard you have. For now open your case clear the CMOS on the motherboard, locate the 1-3 pin jumper (normaly near battery) switch it from pins 1 and 2 to pins 2 and 3 for about 20 seconds and then switch back to normal. If u have a manual for your PC or motherboard it should tell u exactly where the pin is. When the cmos is cleared this will reset your bios so any "overclocking" will be put back to normal. Try this and let us know what you come up with.

Re: Help with my computer, not booting properly

reset your CMOS jumper.
try placing the RAM in different slots one stick at a time.
Whip out the multimeter and check the voltages.

on an entirely unrelated note, please do not write in red, it's rather bleak across the green, fairly hard to read against the background(especially considering that I have mild red-green color blindness)

Re: Help with my computer, not booting properly

Thanks for all the tips, tried them all, and they didnt work >_<
but that aside, i decided to put in a different motherboard, the old one, the error started with the first one, got that one out, put in the new one, reinstalled windows, got it working for a week, then boom
put in the first mother board again, ran windows setup (restore thingy) and it works like a charm once again ^^ thanks again peepz ^^

oh and nighthawk, ive eben typing in red for quite some time now, you're the first person to have ever complained, ill put this post in red and in normal text, but i wont do it again, sorry.

don't really worry, highlighting the text certainly makes it more readable. I was just noting that it might be unnecessarily hard for some to read.
