Will A British Wii Work In Australia?
I'm going with my family to Australia a couple of days after the Wii comes out to visit relatives. And, I'm gonna take my newly bought Wii, TP and various other games.
I know about DVD regions (e.i-DVDs wont work on other DVD players for a different 'region'), but is it the same with games/games consoles? If anyone can help, I would be very grateful. Even if it's true, and I can't play the Wii (moreover-TP) on holiday, at least I can prepare... I'm not sure if this thread belongs here, or in the General Gaming Forum, so I'm sorry for any trouble.

Re: Will A British Wii Work In Australia?
Remember that if you buy a game in wherever your going it won't work on your Wii though.

Re: Will A British Wii Work In Australia?
The voltage in both countries is the same (220 Volts), but you're going to have to buy an adapter so that you'll be able to plug your british unit into the australian sockets. You're going to have to run to an electronics store or hop on ebay and get something that'll let you plug your wii into a socket that's shaped like this -
![]() They sell plenty of universal converters around here (which, unfortunately, don't usually convert voltage too - again, not as though you've got a problem with that). Thus, I don't see why things would be any different where you are. And regions still exist on game consoles too - as Gibdo said, the only thing different regions mean is that a game that you buy in one region won't work on a video game system from another. So as long as you don't try and buy video games while you're over there and play them on your system, you're completely and totally set!

Re: Will A British Wii Work In Australia?
However, Australian games will work on a British Wii, due to them both using the same video frequency, PAL.
So long story short, Australian games will work on your British Wii.
