Blu-Ray is just STUPID!
Let's be honest: Blu-Ray is just like a DVD player, except:
-it's more expensive -not much different from a normal DVD -the discs are more sensitive -Sony made it. SONY, those copycats of Nintendo! -probably a waste of money! Like really, I had about 97 VHS tapes (Yes, I counted), and ended up changing to DVD, now Blu-Ray? It's just idiotic like poop on a stick....that's green. Yeah. What do you think of the future, money-wasting Blu-Ray?

Re: Blu-Ray is just STUPID!
I think from the beginning to the end in the first post - Nintendo fanboyism is off the scale. Really, do a thorough research first before you start bashing companies such as Sony. It's that ridiculous.

Re: Blu-Ray is just STUPID!
Well that was pointless. Just because "a" company you don't like made a product, does not mean that product is bad. The PS3 might not be your best friend, but it does look like a nice product with a lot of power under the hood. Not to mention some good games are going to be on it.
Sony can be right little no-gooders at times, but there products ARE good. When you see a Sony TV, DVD Player, or Cell phone. You know it's going to be a good product, because Sony is, yes it is, a good brand. Blu-Ray is a good for everyone, it will make DVDs and players cheaper. It's like going from 32bit to 64bit CPUs. All upgrades are good.

Re: Blu-Ray is just STUPID!
Yes, that, but the price is most peoples biggest concern. I like the way blu-ray sorta makes the picture better. But I know that it can be EVEN better. I know Sony. I've used their products for years! But yes, the price... so expensive...

Re: Blu-Ray is just STUPID!
The price is not an issue. As with any other technology out there, it will drop once more consumers have decided to use such technology.

We are starting to need a higher capacity disc format however in the computer world. We could have survived on double layered DVDs for a good while longer, but even still, we would soon need to make a transition to some kind of better format. And I think it works out nicely that the disc format transition lined up pretty well with the release of the new OSes from Apple and Microsoft. V99 really summed up the rest completely. Though I can't help but notice that the original poster failed to take note of HD-DVDs completely. It isn't just Sony forcing a new format on us. It's Hollywood.

Re: Blu-Ray is just STUPID!
If there is a valid argument in your original post, it is completely overruled by the simple fact that Blu-ray disks feature far better picture quality and storage capacity than regular or dual-layered DVDs. By choosing to focus on aesthetics you bury yourself in your own **** without even a snorkel to breathe in the fresh air of reason. Do you fancy yourself a Sophist? Even they knew the basic facts about they were talking about.

Your argument is basically that you don't know enough about Blu-Ray to say what it's good points are, but you feel that it must have bad ones so you try to focus on those. I, personally, don't think that the market is anywhere near ready for Blu-Ray or HD-DVD, but they're still not bad products.

Re: Blu-Ray is just STUPID!
You know what's interesting is that Sony didn't make Blu-Ray, just as Microsoft didn't invent the HD-DVD. A joint collaboration called the Blu-Ray Disk Association came up with the technology. The companies involved were Matsu****a, Pioneer, Phlilps, Thomson, LG Electronics, Hitachi, Sharp, Samsung and Sony. Blu-Ray is fine in my opinion, just as fine as HD-DVD. I wouldn't mind seeing Blu-Ray fail because that would mean a loss for Sony, and I, being a Nintendo fanboy, would like that. However, I wouldn't mind seeing the HD-DVD fail, either because that would mean a loss for Microsoft. It's almost certain that at least one of them will succeed. Either way, for us Nintendo fanboys, it's a win-loss situation.

Re: Blu-Ray is just STUPID!
It's kind of sad to see a potential technological advancement being shot down by fans of certain companies. It just seems very irrational altogether. In fact, that reminds me of a debate I have had with a friend of mine last night. She was a major/hardcore Nintendo fan. However, her side of the argument didn't make much sense since she refused to read anything about other two companies (Sony and Microsoft) and only based her ideas on Nintendo solely (we were discussing about the past, present, and future of console wars).
