Re: Half Life 2

check to make sure that your system meets system requirements. If you have a low amount of graphic card ram the game will do some funny things. Running on integrated the game would crash at every save point. In run, type in dxdiag, look at your processor speed, make sure that it is at least 2Ghz to actually run. Then go to display and look at your graphics card, make sure that it has atleast 64 MB of ram, preferably 128 and click 'check directx' to make sure that it can actually draw something on the screen. Also make sure that you have lots of ram. If you only have 256 MB and you are running windows xp then you are going to get serious memory shortages and when the ram runs out, the program dies for unexplained reasons.

if you post your specs it would help.

from a google search:

Now to solve this issue....

in console you type "ai_debug_actbusy 1".

This will solve the problem, and you may enjoy the game as usual

AMD 3000+

1024MB Ram

256mb GeForce 6 series.

My PC is very capable of running Half Life 2..My PC can run Doom 3 with no problem and Doom 3 graphics are by far better than HL2s..

Re: Half Life 2

cool, I got half life 2 but the game always froze on my when saving so I got a ATI 9550 256mb graphics card. The game would save but then in black mesa when that girl was supposed to go into the elevator, she just stood there and i couldn't progress. Anways have fun, half life 2 is coming out and it will have portals which looks very interesting, even by my standards (which are pretty low)

Re: Half Life 2

Half Life 2 is already out. You obviously mean Half Life 2: Episode 2, which contains the games Team Fortress 2 and Portal.

Wow. That was completely untrue, and you are in my book forever marked as a n00b for saying that. You completely deserve having had that happen to you, and it sucks that you fixed it. I can only now pray that it happens again -- permanently this time.

Re: Half Life 2

actually in some aspect DoomII has better graphics, but attention to detail isn't quite the same.

and out of curiosity why are you braggin about having a system which can play a 3 year old game? for the hell of it, this mediocre sub 30$ 6200 PCI card runs both DoomII and HL2 surprisingly well. though i need to change the card badly like right now I'm sick of it it is horrifically below my standards.

My ass. Doom II wasn't even truely 3D. The world was cel-shaded, for that matter.

A, I'm not bragging about anything. B, HL2 isn't even two years old yet. C, It's DOOM III. Not II, III. 3, for the romanically challenged. Got all that? Good. *pats head*

Re: Half Life 2

I meant doom III forgive a small error.

i'm sure you're smart enough to realize that the average person is capable of making a small error here and there.

also betas of HL2 have been out for just a bit more than 2 years, though you are right that it is closer to 2 than 3 my error there as well.
