Using Website Templates

Well, I have a html host and recently downloaded a new template I wanted to put onto it, but im really confused and new to this sort of stuff, it came with a file called index.html, setup and lots of images, I opened the index.html and copied the stuff into the html code box on my host and previewed it but all that came up was some text, it was basically the border with no images, colour just black and white, can anybody please help..?

Can the thing actually host HTML?

I can help you man, post some screen shots or email me them triviumkid06@AOL.com, you'll probably need to sort them into folders, it's really hard to explain.
