Computer Problems.

I think this is where I go for this. If not I'm sorry. I was playing WarCraft 3, and the second day I went to the computer and it would not turn on. I thought the plug had come out, but it was tightly secured in. Everything else, the monitor, the speakers, and the printer were all on. Everything except the computer modem itself was not working. I called geek squad twice, and they said to bring it in. I'd rather not because my WarCraft copy is still in it. Does anyone have an idea? I'd really like some help. In fact, the only reason I'm here is because my uncle has a laptop.

Re: Computer Problems.

Well, getting your CD out is simple. Somewhere on your drive you should see a tiny little hole, unbend a paper clip and stick it in there, the drive should pop out enough for you to open it with your hand.

As for the problem, you just turned it off and it won't turn back on? I don't have a lot in the way of suggestions then.

If it's not turned on and it won't open automatically without being turned on?

Re: Computer Problems.

And it also depends on which kind of computer you're using. Not being an expert for PCs, I'd make a look to your geek squad.

Re: Computer Problems.

Well if you can manage to get your CD back, what's keeping you to do so?

There is a 'manual override', if you will, that allows you to open the CD player without power. Just do what I said. It'll open a tiny bit, just grab it and pull it open the rest of the way.

Re: Computer Problems.

Did you or someone happen to double the power that goes into your computer, theres a switch near the power input on the computer, someone may have fiddled with it and when you turned it on it blew the fuse. Check to see if the fuse is blown.
Can't really help but thats happened before.

Re: Computer Problems.

Try unplugging your computer tower and wait 30 seconds before plugging it back in, this will reset everything and hopefuly give your power back. If not I am guessing that you have a bad power supply or motherboard.

P.S with my personal experiances I have learned that Geek Squod is one of those companys like AOL, very overrated and pricey so dont go with them.

Re: Computer Problems.

Try trouble shooting to see if it is the monitor firstly, if it's not that. Then see if it makes any noises, like a harddrive scraping...or see it you can get anywhere even to post.

Check to see if the little power connector thingy is still attached to the motherbaord, and if the PSU seems to be working.

you can also try testing using only one stick of ram in all the slots, if that is a no go then try the other stick.

If even thing seems to be connected and working properly then it's the motehrboard or CPU.

I'm pretty sure you're right, because I had someone that is good with electric things come over and tell me that nothing inside it was working, and to go get the power supply replaced and renewed.
