Post The ports on the bottom of a gamecube

Have you noticed the ports on the bottom of the gamecube? Have you noticed that the only device that uses them is the game boy player? And just what is the high speed port for?

Re: The ports on the bottom of a gamecube

Nintendo uses some of the ports to burn the roms and program the gamecube I believe and sometimes they are used to connect to the gamecube and diognose ports.
As for the high speed port I have no clue.

Re: The ports on the bottom of a gamecube

There is one game that uses online capabilities, and that's PSO I, II, & III.

I'm pretty sure that, technically, it can, but Nintendo never really took advantage of it.

Yep, buy a Gamecube modem and a game with online support (or that the fan-based Warp Pipe can make work online) and you can play it over the internet.

Re: The ports on the bottom of a gamecube

One of the ports is for use with either the Broadband adapter or Modem Adapter. These allow the Gamecube to go online, only with Phantasy Star Online or with some hacks, including Warp Pipe.

The other port is an extension port which mainly works in conjunction with the Gameboy Player.

Yes it can.

Nintendo Gamecube Online

That is the modem where you connect it to the high speed port i believe.
There is only four games that are compatible to go online which are: Mario Kart Double Dash, Kibry Air Ride, Avalange 1080 (sp?) and Phantasy Star Online.

The other ports under the gamecube is for the Game Boy Player.

PSO is the only online game. All 3 stories that is. The other 3 games you listed are only LAN compatible, meaning you could hook up say, 4 Gamecubes together in a LAN and play together. This has been exploited using Warp Pipe and allows people to play together over the internet.
