Destroying WMP
I was wondering about this, Can u get rid of Windows Media Player??? I have had several people tell me u can(unfortunately they don't know how) and i have had sites(especially MS) tell me you can't get rid of it.... personally despise WMP, for my own personal reasons(we're not going into that) but I was just curious. It should be possible, it's just like any other program/software on you computer

Re: Destroying WMP
ya know; you should'nt really remove WMP alltogether. It's better to get another program to play music and stuff on and just forget about WMP. If something ever happens to your program; you can endure WMP and listen to some of your music.
You can just delete the desktop icons and program folders in the start list and just forget it's there.

Re: Destroying WMP
And you are able to change your default settings to stop it from opening anything inside it. Unfortunately, I use WMP for my music, it works better in my opinion than Winamp. That's my opinion, though.

But if you deleted WMP now you might have to download it later again because you wan't to play a file on the internet which is only streamed in WMFormat.

Re: Destroying WMP
You could try manually deleting the files and setting up another music player, such as iTunes, Winamp or Realplayer (though I don't reccommend that one too highly).
I use WMP as my default media player because it doesn't seem to do a lot that I don't like. It has a decent library interface as well as good equalizer modes; the look and style don't hurt it either. I'm happy with it. If you REALLY want to get rid of it, you may be able to install an old version of WMP (from the Microsoft website) over the current one (9 or 10, whichever you have). It might work.

Re: Destroying WMP
I use WMP above I-Tunes, Real and Quicktime. Reason, it is a lot better to use, it has more features and i can sync it direct to my Creative player and send my playlist over from WMP to the Creative.

2. Select the tab that says "File Types", up should come a box with all the different file types on your machine and which programs are used to launch them. 3. Find a list entry with the WMP file logo and click on it, the change button should activate. Click on the change button and up should come a window with a list of applications, choose iTunes and select OK. In the list the logo should change to the iTunes logo. 4. Repeat step 3 for all entries with the WMP logo. 5. Press OK. Now when you click on a movie file, music file etc iTunes should open. This is how you change any file launcher in Windows (hope that made sense ). |
