Sprite Gifs MAC?

hey im a complete n00b at making moving sprite gifs, what kind of program would i need for my ibook/Mac to create some?

You could maybe use something like Photoshop/Imageready....i dunno about Sprites though....I've had some trouble out of PS/IR trying to do that, like it being kinda weird and echy, etc.
