a warning

Ok, if you have aim here is a waning. I (apperantly) got a virus or spyware that opens my b/l, and sends a message to everyone online. So, if you get a message from anyone saying: "do you care if i put this photo of us on my homepage?" or something to taht effect, then dont click it. That will be all.

Re: a warning

...i think that is very well known. You need to get a thing called AIMfix, it works wonders.

Just a word of advice. Never click a link unless you know the person, or the person sending it told you what it is.

Re: a warning

people, i would just like to say (and Everyones gonna get suspicious after this) i do NOT do viruses, and i can give you a 100% garantuee that i have viewed the contents of the page before posting them. in fact, i just read this viruses description, and it's mainly ones like trojans and worms that do this if i am right. the best thing i can say is dont open e-mail from people you do not know, and beware of links from people you do not know.

No, it won't. System restores are just restoring your system to an earlier stage of it's life. The virus will still lurk there.

In most cases it will, as long as it's a peice of software a system restore will do nothing to it.

Re: a warning

I've inadvertently clicked on some of those virus links before, but I didn't get them, wanna know why? I have a Mac. I am immune to every virus (although I wont lie, there are a few Mac viruses, but that's what anti-virus programs are for) PC's are bombarded by viruses and internet providers have to have all these virus blockers and all the PC users still have to be careful and all that.

I'd hate to be a annoying ad, but if viruses are driving you crazy, get a Mac.

Re: a warning

Actually this virus only propagates provided the user 1) clicks the link in the AIM client, and 2) chooses to open the file when prompted by Internet Explorer. Since the context of this link usually implies that it is an image, and in my experience the extension has always been .pif, why, why would you execute it?

I can send you a file that will allow me to exploit your machine if you so wish Mac users are just as open to exploits as anyone running any other OS in the world short of one you programed yourself, and even then

Always hover over the link or right click > copy hyperlink URL to clipboard and paste it somewhere, Look at the link.
