Or, you could just be smart and not have desktop icons at all and access everything through a quick launch menu. That way you can have a pretty wallpaper without things blocking it, be organised and look cool all at the same time.

Anyway, ignoring all the above nonsense, the Internet Explorer desktop icon is toggled through Control Panel>Display Properties>Desktop Tab>Customize Desktop. The section "Desktop icons" allows you to choose whether to place My Documents, My Computer, My Network Places and Internet Explorer on the desktop. |
