Computer Freezing

I don't know what to do. I've tried everything to virus scanners to buying upgrade RAM cards; nothing works and my computer still sits there with that stupid FROZEN "grin", taunting me to break the one thing I need most.

Ok, now that rage as subsided, anyone please, help me to fix my computer, by ANY means necessary.

Re: Computer Freezing

Have you tried defragmenting? You said Virus Scanners, did you scan for spyware?
And what processor do you have?
And also, you could be running too much extra processes, pull up Task Manager (I'm assuming you're using Windows, btw) Alt+Ctrl+Del
And take off some processes that are unecessary...

Maybe if you post some specs... I (or someone else) maybe able to help.

Reformat is your friend, man, if nothing else works. Always better to get a fresh start than trying to rip your hair off in frustration while going through steps one by one.

Re: Computer Freezing

What Lone Wolf said, A format is the best thing of those types of problems.
It sounds to me that its been going on for awhile, you've most likely got alot of problems with it.
A format would do it alot of good, just make sure you backup your data/emails/bookmarks/and any game save data you need to save.
Make sure you don't forget anything, as it can be rather disappointing when its gone.

Re: Computer Freezing

Maybe there's just too damn many possibilites? More information is needed here. Stabbing in the dark is just going to waste this guy's time.

We need to know your system's specifications, Layke, and the nature of your problem. At what point does the computer freeze? How long has it been doing this? Did it start after ANY hardware or software changes?
