Removing and Transporting Hard Drive

So, I'm using an average Dell 2400, and I need to know how to remove and transport my hard drive. I have a fairly good idea how to get it out, but if anybody could direct me to an informational site on removal, that would be great.

Also, what do I need to do to transport my hard drive safely? Thatnks in advance.

Re: Removing and Transporting Hard Drive

Unplug the plugs. Then put it in some sort of container (I only say that because there may be the slight chance of it getting wet. You can never be too safe). I deal with hard drives all the time. They're actually not as quite as fragile as you think. Unless of coarse you drop it; but I wouldn't want to take the risk and try.

As for specific details on how to remove it. I really don't know of a site that tells you how. But it's really simple to do. It might be screwed in the computer though (most likely). So, get a screwdriver. Then just unplug it. It’s that simple. Just be a little cautious.

Re: Removing and Transporting Hard Drive

I've never done anything special when moving a hard drive, I just carry it with my bare hands. If you want to be absolutely safe, however, wrap the drive in a static-free plastic bag and place it in a box. Be sure to steer clear of unshielded stereo woofers and large bodies of water.

As for removing it, just unplug the power and data cables and remove any screws mounting the drive to the case.

Just basicaly keep it away from any Televisions or speakers and when removeing it use a non-magnetic screwdriver.
