Intel Pentium 4 2.67 GHz

512 MB DDR SDRAM

120 GB Hard Drive

600 Watt Power Supply

CD-RW Drive (48x CD, 40x CD-R, 20x CD-RW)

DVD Drive (not sure of the specs..)

NVIDIA GeForce FX 5500 256DDR Video Card

LG Flatron L1720P 17" Flat Panel LCD Moniter/ 1280 x 1024 resolution / 75 Hz refresh rate / Contrast Ratio 550:1

Right now, everthing works out pretty well for me, but of course, I don't do hard-core gaming on it at this point. I'd like to, over the course of the next year or so, upgrade my DVD drive to a DVD-R, put more RAM, and upgrade my video card as well.

I do alot of computer graphic/artwork on this computer, so the moniter was an absolute must for me... and I can say that I'm very pleased with the purchase.

le PC:
DFI LANParty UT nF4 Ultra-D
Athlon 64 3500+ Venice
ASUS Extreme N7800GT/2HDTV
OCZ 1 GB DDR-400 Kit
250GB Western Digital SATAII HD
dunno much about the drives, heh, but a LiteOn SOHC-5235K and Pioneer DVR-110D
Enermax EG565AX-VE(W)FMA (Which had an awesome Enermax shoulderbag included. I wub it.)
Monitor is a pretty 19 inch Fujitsu Siemens TFT. And there's a funny Razer Diamonback Plasma
Limited Edition which matches the lights of my case.

My laptop is a bit of a sad case.

has a 1,1GH Intel Celeron processor
512 mb of RAM, initially 256
16 mb of that disappears to my highly awesome 16 mb Trident Video Accelerator Cyberblade
18,8 GB harddisk
technically has a cd/dvd drive.
And it lacks the options of adjusting brightness/contrast. heh..
Guess that's about it.

Compaq 7500 Computer Monitor-Bulky but sleek. Can't run but one refresh rate at highest resolution.

My mainboard sucks. Though I'm thinking about getting a new one and CPU this summer. I want to get my TV first. 4X AGP and The 133Mhz Front Side Bus is terribly out dated.
that is because the athlon XPs only can handle up to 333mhz FSB unlike the 64s which range between 1000mhz-2000mhz FSB, shouldn't matter though, Athylons and Pentium Ms are not very bandwidth sensitive.

That's nothing. Less than two years ago I was using this computer:

Windows 95
AuthenticAMD processor (don't know hertz rating)
64.0 MB RAM
Sanyo CRD 820P CD ROM drive
Generic IDE Type 46 disk drive
Super VGA 800x600 monitor
Two hard drives with less than 1 GB each even when they're totally blank.

So, I actually envy your old computer instead of thinking "wow, your computer sucked." Quite the reverse of what you were going for, I think.

Re: Post Your PC Specs (and we'll see just who pwns ;))

Main beast:

AMD Athlon XP 2000+
AOpen AK79D-400VN motherboard
2x 256MB DDR400 RAM
1x Maxtor 80GB HDD
1x Maxtor 120GB HDD
On-board sound and NIC
Additional D-LINK internal NIC
nVidia Geforce FX 5200 128MB
Relisys TL766-D 17" TFT monitor (running very happily at 1280x1024x32@60hz) with built-in tiny speakers.
Speakers: EITHER:
* the monitor's internal speakers
* cheap+cheerful generic PC speakers
* Sennheiser earbuds (probably MX350s, uncertain)
* Sony MDR-V300 stereo headphones
* line out to Cambridge Audio Model A1 v2.0 Integrated Amplifier to a pair of Ariston MSX-03 micro monitors
DVD-RW drive (no idea of make)
Floppy drive
Cheap+cheerful crappy mouse and keyboard
Some random webcam
Dell injet printer of unknown model, of zero pricetag, and of extortionate refill costs

Bricktop:
IBM Thinkpad 390, circa 1800 AD
* P266 MMX
* 96MB RAM
* 800x600 12" (viewable) screen
* non-functional battery
D-LINK DFE-670-TXD PCMCIA NIC
EITHER:
* 6GB HDD with win2k
* 3GB HDD with a *nix of some variety (variable)
Combination CD/Floppy drive (internal)

I think that's about everything. Oh, I own one older desktop that I can't remember the specs for - not much better than the bricktop - and I think there's an even older one that partially belongs to me.

Yeah, you can run it with 64mb, but it's really really slow. Takes like an hour to rip a CD.

My Laptop:
AMD 64 3200+
128mb ATI Raedeon Xpress 200m
1gb RAM
80gb HHD
1280x800 15.4 inch screen
Dual-Layer DVD+/-RW drive

Yeah, it's like 6 months old too.

Interesting point. If you only have 64MB...wtf are you doing with a CD burner? lmfao. Dude, I could barely get on AOL, let alone burn some CD.

No, no.
Ripping is copying the CD data to the hard drive, burning is exporting the data from the HD to the CD.

And AOL is a memory hog anyways.

lol, sry I wasn't thinking. But anyway, it's still hard as hell to do that on 64MB ram.

Hah. It takes 25 mins to start this piece of **** up, and another 25 to shut down. I'm constantly getting the "low on memory" bubble, etc. etc.

I know my RAM sucks, but is my harddrive, etc. okay?

I'm hoping to get an upgrade in my RAM soon. 200-500MB would do me fine.

You should get a 512 stick that is very stable and your processor and harddrive are fine.

you can find them as cheap as 270 after rebates. after the 7900is out in two or three months, expect them to go down maybe 10$, they are also coming out with lower end cards, the 7200 and the 7600 FYI.

rofl....Cheaper?
Dude...6800GTs are pretty much the same price.
And who said cheaper? Running two cards in SLi shoots up your powerbill.
Besides, One 7800GT can closely match two 6800GTs in SLi.

Lastest tech is the only way to go.
