BitTorrent help.

OK, I just downloaded a BitTorrent client, since I wish to view anime and such on a mor widescale base. I install it and all, and try to download "Beet the Vandel Buster" episodes 1-13 from animesuki.net, however it says I am downloading it, but it stays at 0.0% and won't go higher.

Any idea how I can make it download? Sorry if it is a no brainer, Im a newb to BitTorrent.

I downloaded the client from www.bittorrent.com by the way.

Re: BitTorrent help.

Alternate clients? Try Azureus. That's about all I got for ya. Perhaps play with your firewall and internet security as well.

Re: BitTorrent help.

Most likely, it's not the firewall's problem. If there are not enough Seeders, you won't be able to download at all. The thing with Bittorrent is that it grabs files from random Seeders, people who have completed the download and allowed the files to be shared to other people or ones that have completed half way. Either way, when you are using bittorrent, you are grabbing parts of the files from different people all over the Internet.

So naturally, the more Seeders you have, the faster your download goes. If there are no Seeders or not enough Seeders with completed portions of the files, your download will stay at 0.0% rate until someone with the completed files came online.

So be patient. If the anime is popular or something, there will be someone with compete files online sooner or later.

A better explanation can be found here: http://computer.howstuffworks.com/bittorrent.htm

Re: BitTorrent help.

The torrent has a substantial amount of seeders. If it is your firewall, there are ways to "poke a hole" into them to allow certain ports free traffic flow with programs chosen at your discretion. Of course, I could never do that properly, so I couldn't really tell you what to do there.

The best thing I can advise is to dowload Azureus, which NES linked to. Solved all of my problems, that it did. Coulnd't tell ya why or how, though.

Re: BitTorrent help.

OK, I'll try Azureus...

OK, Azureus works, but it's sooooo slow. The fastest speed I've had has been like 86 kb/secon :/.

Does anyone know how I can speed it up, I.E. the proper way to set up my security software?

Re: BitTorrent help.

Check and make sure you have some remote connections. If you don't, you need to forward some ports in your router.

What firewall software are you running? If you're behind a router, what make and model is it?

Re: BitTorrent help.

You know, BitTorrent is peer-to-peer. Your connection is not the only factor in downloading speed. When you get a torrent, make sure that it has a good seed-to-leech ratio. As for a client, Azureus was alright for a while, and then I switched to BitTornado. When that couldn't handle things, I got the best client I've had so far: BitComet.

Just run a Google search for it, and you'll get results.

Also, answer Fury's questions. If you do have a router, the best thing to learn about is how to fix up your router to use BitTorrent flawlessly.

Yeah...You're using bittorrent here, bud. Extremely fast downloads are pretty far and few between. Especially when you're looking for a rare download. I have my network optimized but when I download stuff, the speed hardly ever reaches over 35k/s. Oh. And if you have a wireless router, you can optimize it all you want, but if a download is really really slow, I would recommend just disconnecting your router while you download the file.
