Ipod or Zen Micro???

ok i have been deciding over which MP3 player i should buy.i would buy the ipod nano but its really expensive for what it does and i herad it breaks easily.then i wa goin to buy a ipod mini but thats pretty expensive and nobody caries it anymore.then i was thinking about buying the ipod shuffle but it doesnt even have a screen.that suks.then found out about the zen micro made by creative.im leaning more towards this one because it looks cool and it comes in 10 different colors then the boring ipods which come in just 2 colors.and it seems more in my price range.for the number of songs it holds whichs is very similar to the ipod nano or mini but a little cheapier.and it stills supports napster, msn music, limewire, and many more except itunes.so before i go out and buy one i need a second opinion so plz help me decide which one fits me and is better choice.thx!

Re: Ipod or Zen Micro???

For style, buy an iPod. For more features, get a Zen. Zen also has a better price tag.

Re: Ipod or Zen Micro???

Overall I think the Zen is a higher quality player, and it's also cheaper . I think iPods are good if you want to be trendy and show off a little, but Creative mp3 players are much more practical in my opinion.

Re: Ipod or Zen Micro???

Well I got a Zen for my last Mp3 player, and it was difficult as hell to load MP3s on, and the headphone socket eventually stopped working.
So I got an iPod Nano and have had 0 problems with it (it's not very old yet though.) It's interface rules and iTunes makes loading so simple. If you're going to get a Nano, make sure you get a case to go with it though as I can't stress this enough, it scratches mindbogglingly easily. It hasn't come in contact with anything except the box and my hand and it's already covered in micro scratches.

Re: Ipod or Zen Micro???

i dont know how old this thread is......wait.......maybe not that old

I have a zen micro, but i gotta say, .......you really gotta take care of it. Sadly i bought one, without insurance, and after a few months, and a bunch of falls on the floor, the head phone jack loosened, and stopped working. Yes i am on my second one, only because i knew that if i wanted to get an ipod, i'd have to use the itunes, which i am not very fond of. I now have insurance on my second zen, and its of course working great, um.....yeah its pretty much up to you.

Re: Ipod or Zen Micro???

If you are looking in the Zen Micro/iPod Nano and Micro area then have a look at the even more feature packed iRiver H10 which has text and photo features along with voice and FM recording (all inbuilt with no accessories required).

I have one and recommend iRiver above any other portable media device brand.

i was going to get one of those, but they are only compatable with windows xp, and i've had xp before, .......3 times, each time, made my computer really useless. nothing worked--thats why i didnt get it. iRivers are pretty good, i had a flash player from them once

If you are willing to make a bit of a price leap, get the Cowon iaudio X5. 20GB Music/Video/Picture Player, FM tuner, Line in recording, Voice recorder and USB host, and it mounts as a removeable drive for added OS compatability.

It's a shame your in America.

If you were anywhere else and got the International version that iRiver distributes everywhere else you could install and use it as the Intl. version is compatible with Windows XP & Windows 2000.

Bugger.

Re: Ipod or Zen Micro???

iRiver products scream quality, in both product terms and sound quality. I wouldn't regret splashing out cash and grabbing one. An iPod on the other hand, seems to be just like fashion. They come in quick and just die out as quickly. Just everchanging, and it seems to be untrendy to have the older models. Bah I say. Bah.

Re: Ipod or Zen Micro???

Depends what you want and were you want to buy from i suspose.

I myslef wont buy from a shop they charge way over the top compared to the net and dont have the latest and best in most of the time. The only site i buy from is Ebuyer there cheap and delivary quick.

My Latest Pick Up - IPod Video 30 GB

with the right software you can stuff it full on any songs and videos you want

If you want just a MP3 Player check out the Zen 20 GB

My last adive if you want a MP3 Player never buy one under 20 GB you may think Nanos are good but for a little more you can get a 20/30 GB and trust me 6 GB aint much if you really like music.

If you want a MP4 player there are lots to choose from a want IPod simple that what ive always had and i knew were to get the fotware to mod it.

IPods are ok but been limted to Itunes and IVids is borrin alot of the time and converting is slow and decreases quality alot of the time so be careful with your money the MP 3/4 Market is a really fast movin one.

Re: Ipod or Zen Micro???

Get the Micro if your music collection isn't that big. If your collection is a lot more than 5 GB (I think thats what the Micro can hold), get another Creative Zen model. The Micro is really small too, a little smaller but a little fatter than the Nano. Fits in the hand better, though.

Creatives have better sound quality, I know this for a fact. The difference isn't huge, but certainly is noticeable. Creative is a good company known for making quality products like their sound cards, the iPods aren't bad, just I'd definately pick Creative over Apple.

Oh yeah, and DON'T get a Nano. I know 3 people with one: one broke, one's screen is severly scratched and it's hard to see anything without the backlight on, and the other one works fine.

Re: Ipod or Zen Micro???

Get an iPod. I've got one and I absolutly love it. My mother has the nano, and it does tend to get scratched easily, so I'd see if you could get a hold of a used or refurbished mini. They shouldn't bee too hard to find.

Just to let you know, I'm a religously loyal Apple user.

Re: Ipod or Zen Micro???

I have a Creative Zen Micro and I advise against getting one. I bought mine in January and have had to send it off to Creative for repairal twice. It wasn't through misuse it just stopped working twice. Many other people have had similar problems with the Micro. Plus it doesnt have a very large capacity. You might want a different Creative model but otherwise go with an Ipod.
