Re: I-tunes vs windows media player

I used to use WinAMP but it kept on screwing up and deleting my library so I just switched iTunes so I couldn't be bothered trying to pinpoint the problem. I like iTunes about the same, function-wise but I think iTunes wins in the looks deparment so I'm gonna say that. WMP sucks, plain and simple though. =P

Re: I-tunes vs windows media player

winamp all the way
is easy to use and really easy to customize
plus its the only player which supports like every type of file in existence because of all the downloadable plugins (try playing an nsf on itunes). and i can download whater else i want for it(crossfade, additional equalizers, mp3 player support, etc.)

What's everyone got against WinAMP?
im not really against it, i actually think it is a useful program in its own way. such as there are alot of skins, and its much smaller. however, i just like i-tunes more for its easy usage, its quick burning, its insane (absolutely INSANE!) visualizer, and it easy way to customize things. not to mention it runs smooth on almost any computer while still having good quality. also, it does play any audio file as far as i can tell. ive been able to play all the files ive ever gotten a hold of, and there may be some thatit cant play, but they must be extremely rare, as well as you can probably just convert them with i-tunes anyways, so it doesnt matter.

Re: I-tunes vs windows media player

Both suck IMO. Winamp all the way. Been with it since Winamp 2.xx, and tried out almost every incarnation of it. Love it's Media Libary, and playlists. Equalizer kicks ass, and plug-ins are easy to configure and download. iTunes, although I like the playlist making, I just think it doesn't feel right. I am not a big fan of it, and WMP just plain blows. It has a horrible layout, having to go through things just to change one thing seems like too much of a chore.

i can relate to this. after youve used something a certain way for a long time, and have never really used anything else, it just doesnt feel right to use anything else.

Not really. I've used most of them the same amount of time, and a few other players. I have just stuck by Winamp most of the time anyway.

Re: I-tunes vs windows media player

Xelink is right, you don't need to convert audio files into Wma to play them on Wmp. I know this first hand cause I have both. I agree with some of you, I-tunes is much better for burning cd's. I use it all the time when I am burning my cd's so I know it's way better than WMP In that department. I like using I-tunes because it sorts everything out well and it has better visulations in my opinion. However I may be the only one going through this, but is I-tunes slow to start up? I like windows media player because of it's look and the way it can minimize to the task bar, oh wait, I-tunes can do that too.

Re: I-tunes vs windows media player

Yes, because using the Player to rip cd's into crappy formats is really gonna be great!

I suggest if you want to rip, burn or convert, you should grab DBPowerAmp. Google it. You can convert files into pretty much any format. For burning, just use Nero or something. My expierences with built-in ripping/burning hasn't been a nice one, as there are limited speeds and many coasters on my desk

Say's you.

You can grab it OEM for less than £5. Or you can use the trial and stuff. It is better to use native software for burning than a run-of-the-mill add-on for your media player. Simply because it will do the job better and more effiecently.

Re: I-tunes vs windows media player

^i disagree, i tunes works just as fast, and much more effeiciently than nero does. i only use neros for burning everything else, but its much easier to use itunes, especially since i have no idea where all my music files are in my itunes folder, so id be screwed if i tryed to use nero or windows media.

and for everyone saying that you dont have to convert files to wma format for wmp, i believe you may be correct, but u still need to every time you burn a cd (or something, i says converting beofre you burn the cd, and it takes a while).

A program will only burn as fast as your burner can go. A program won't make it any faster. Winamp is extremely easy to use.

I like winamp the best. Best customization, global hotkeys, small and simple. When I have 2000+ songs on a playlist, I like the playlist editor much better than iTunes.

For all media, bar DVDs, I use RealPlayer. It's cool, and does the job.
