Re: The Official iPod Thread

I got myself an I-pod shuffle last summer.
It got all my favorite music on it now, it has good quality of sound,
though it doesn't have a screen it's as easy to use as, let's say, a pudding,
and it cost me only 1€^^.

Re: The Official iPod Thread

I had to send my 4th Generation 40GB iPod away to Apple a few days ago because of a hardware issue. It looks like it'll be returned within a week, yay! I'm happy that I found out about the issue now, as the warrenty runs out at the end of this month!

Jus't to let you no, ive had a creative zen player b4, the creative zen Micro. You have to be careful because i had to get mine replaced then replaced again and refunded because of a faulty input jack.

Re: The Official iPod Thread

Apple has sent me a replacement (i.e. completely brand new) iPod within a week. I'm happy with the service ^^.

Now to spend the time putting all the songs back on it, and catching up with all the podcasts I listen to >_>;

Go back a page, I explain how to put album art in.
Well they are REALLY caked on stuff on there and I've used windex but that really didnt work. I got clear screen covers and they went away, but when I peel them off there still there so the covers are a cover up. I know how to put album art into the songs (isn't it where you just c/p it into the thing that shows up?) but still some songs don't show it.

Re: The Official iPod Thread

I got an iPod Nano for X-mas and it's awesome and all, but my computer is really crappy and can't get iTunes on it. I'm glad that I do have access to a good computer, but it's a 4-mile drive to it. My computer can't charge it, either, and I can't stand that the battery life runs out that quickly:mad:!!!! I haven't listened to it a about 2 weeks because of this, but I don't really care. I'm not obsessed with it like some others kids my age are.

Re: The Official iPod Thread

well, im a service tech in a store that services apples and ipod...there are other components out there to load music other than itunes. For example if you have WinAmp there is a plug in called "lm_amp" that'll let you use winamp to load songs. or for linux users use Gpod ^_^ the wonderful world of ipods...just freakin make sure you get applecare. FOR THE LOVE OF ALL T HAT IS HOLY!!! i know its just another warranty and all but trust me, you'll use it at least once when the battery dies in a year and a half. Apple is gonna knock you $110 ish for a new one, apple care would cover the battery. JUST GET IT!!! TRUST ME!!! AUGH!!!

Re: The Official iPod Thread

I have the 60 gig. I-pod video I'm pretty impressed with it. The only thing I hate about is the audio it isn't that loud. The space is quite impressive, yet the songs and videos are higher resolution so I can't download alot of songs that I thought could a while back.
I have about 700 songs thanks to albums.

I bought the black one, and I really need a case. I already have hand prints on mine need to get one tommorow. Oh and I bought that speaker thing where you can insert in the speakers, and have it like a loud projector thingy I can't really explain though. I might post a pic. of what I'm talking about later.

Re: The Official iPod Thread

I have an iPod Mini 1st generation. 876 songs and it's almost full .

I'm sad that I will be getting a bigger one soon as this one had to to be the most indestructable iPod ever made.

I've played catch with it across a highway, dropped it off a bridge, it's fallen out of a car, and most recently I ran over it in my tractor.

I <3 it dearly.

Holy crap you must be really careless with your iPod.

You can buy an AC adapter for it. I did, and it's really nice; you just plug it into your wall.

I have a 2GB black iPod nano. It's awesome. I used to hate having to burn cds of vg remixes in order to listen to them away from the computer.

It's best for people that do boring things often...like take long car rides, deliver newspapers, etc.

Re: The Official iPod Thread

I'm thinking of getting an iPod, or some alternative, and was wondering about how much space does ten minutes of music take?

Probably 15 MB yeah most likely. But when you download the song you want you can check the quality so I wouldn't worry about that.

Report: Nvidia GPUs to be in next-gen iPods
American Technology Research changes rating on graphics-chip-maker's stock on belief its technology will be part of forthcoming crop of media handhelds.
By Tor Thorsen, GameSpot
Posted Jul 18, 2006 9:07 pm PT

In late May, a Silicon Valley recruiter told GameSpot that it looked like Apple was forming a secret games division. According to the source, former LucasArts technical director Mike Lampell is heading up a group inside the storied iTunes division, and hiring for "C/C++ coders with a 'gaming background.'"

Today, further evidence surfaced that indicate a future version of Apple's ubiquitous iPod player will have gaming functionality. The news came when industry-research firm American Technology Research raised its rating of graphics-chip-maker Nvidia from "hold" to "buy."

The reason?

"Based on our analysis, we believe Nvidia is designed into the next-generation video iPod socket at the expense of Broadcom," ATR analyst Satya Chillara told the EE Times, referring to the maker of the graphics processing unit (GPU) in current-generation video ipods. "We believe the Nvidia chip adds 3D graphics functionality in addition to all of the existing features that Broadcom supported with the existing vPod."

Besides the existing video playback, a 3D Nvidia GPU has one other obvious application--gaming. However, it must be emphasized that Apple has not officially announced any iPod with anything more than the rudimentary games on current-generation iPods. Requests for comment on the use of Nvidia chips in iPods had gone unanswered as of press time.
Huh. I would like to see the iPod having a good GPU for better functionality.

Re: The Official iPod Thread

I have 30GB White iPod video, and the computer that all my music was on crashed, so I was left with all my music stuck on my iPod and no way to get it off. Someone told me how to get my music off my iPod and onto the computer using a 3rd party program, but the problem was that, whenever I plugged in my iPod into my computer's USB port, the iPod would only show the charging screen, and my computer wouldn't detect that it was plugged in. I tried many times for over 3 weeks with no luck. Today I decided to give it one more shot, so I plugged it in and it actually worked. I was able to save all of my music! But anywho, does anyone what would cause my iPod to not be detected by my computer, and then all of a sudden start working?
