Re: The Official iPod Thread

We get a lot of iRivers brought back basically because people can't be arsed to figure out how they work, however the iPods that come back usually come back because there is an irrepairable (?sp) fault.

Yeah, iRiver is more expensive here, iPods have come down loads since they came out.

Re: The Official iPod Thread

iPods are almost reasonably price now. Actually, they've got a pretty good value. It's just that, nobody really needs a device that stores every single CD you've ever owned, it's just extremely convienient.

Re: The Official iPod Thread

I saw one of the new iPod video things and I was quite impressed. Someone I know got one and was showing it off like crazy, and I fell victum to his stupid iPod. I looked over his shoulder like everyone else. It was a 30 gig and it was the perfect size. It was about the same height and width but it was very thin. It wasn't as fat as the normal iPod. Very cool.

Re: The Official iPod Thread

Well, once you start putting music, pictures and video on one device, i don't see 30GB being enough. On my current iPod, i just have music and pictures and I'm using up about 25 GB. So if you're getting the video one, definitely get the bigger one. It's just the logical thing to do.

Oh GOD that video 60GB is so tempting to me. It's thinner than the 20GB iPod... ****ING THINNER. God damn. And it comes in black.

Re: The Official iPod Thread

Does anyone know if the Photo and the Video iPods take up space with the pictures and videos. What I mean is, say you put so many photos on your iPod does that mean less music? And vise versa? I've never really been clear about this. I would get a 20gb photo but I don't want to run out of space because of photos...anyone know?

Obviously. It's just a hard drive, so treat it like your computer. Basically, they both take up space. Say you have 5GB of Music, this leaves you with 15GB for photos.

Yeah, I assumed. Kind of dumb if you ask me...that just means less photos I guess. Also do you know if they still sell the 30 gig photo. I know it exists but I can't find it anywhere. All I can find is the 20 and 60 photo and the 30/60 video.

Do you know how many pictures you can fit in just one Gig? Way over 1000. And the system isn't that stupid...mostly because every other type of Hard Drive (and heck, even all Drives) work that way.

I don't like ipods, I have my i-river PMP-120, it lets me play movies on a fairly large screen, it is 20 gigs, and it has a 5 hour battery life for video.

Oh and by the way, iRivers are indeed more expensive:

iRiver
iPod Photo
iPod video without the discount.

10 extra GB for the same price? That seems like a good deal to me.

That is all.

I've about decided getting a Nano will be my best bet, portability=rawr. Plus that thing is *****ing sweet just to the touch, all in all, yeawch I loves it.

So yeah, hopefully I'll get one of those for X-Mas or my Bday (both coming up... if anyone wants to donate some pesos ) And yeah I finally got to use an iRiver the other day, it's better for video, but that's pretty much it ._. everything else seems utterly pointless to me I mean battery life? I'll only be using it for like an hour or two a day, not 25 hours a day, come on people...

Anyway, rawr.

That is all.

Re: The Official iPod Thread

Well I did the deed and bought an iPod today. I got the 30 gig video model. So far I am very impressed with how the screen looks and how well everything looks on it. I'm completly confused as to how to delete songs and photos....do you have to do it through itunes? For some reason it doesn't display the cover art for the CD I imported. I want to get this to work but I'm all confused. I just wanted to be able to simply burn the CD directly to the iPod. It's going to the library and then I have to move all the songs to my iPod.

I think I may have an older USB port which makes downloading songs to my iPod very slow...

You'd have to import it into iTunes, then burn it to your iPod from there.

Well yeah I know that. What I mean is, is it possible to burn a CD directly from the disc drive right into your ipod without having to go through the moving around in itunes?

Yeah, I've gotten the hang of that now. Anyone who has a photo or video, is there an easy way to get the album art of the ENTIRE Cd instead of dragging it in for every song?

Also how do I delete certain pictures?

About the photo art, you can Shift-click all the songs to highlight them and then right click and select "Get Info" then double-click the Artwork box and select the cover.

And I don't know about Photos, I have a 20GB iPod that can hold them but you need iPhoto program, right? How's the video iPod? Have any videos on it yet? Did you get the black color?
