Re: The Official iPod Thread

I've got a Walkman myself and I've been using it for a good 2 years now. The sarcasm you quoted was merely to refute the notion that mp3 players are "pretty much useless."

In the end, it all comes down to convenience. I'd prefer to have all of my music in one place so that I can listen to my favorite song from some given CD and then go straight to something completely different without the need for mix discs or disk swapping, regardless of the time I'll be away from home.

For me, iPODS are a waste of time, i did have a iPOD but i gave it away, i do prefer my CD Player. I find it much more handy, although an' iPOD has the ability to save tracks...My freind has an' iPOD Mini, and he is telling me about a new iPOD coming out, called iPOD Nano.

Sincerly yours,

Re: The Official iPod Thread

Well... I feel "helped" anyway >_> I'm moving more towards the new iPod video... because I ain't buyin' a PSP and for 300 bux I can get a 30 GB iPod that totally plays videos, rawk on. UNFORTUNATELY it doesn't play DivX :\... This is revelant to the subject, heh.

For if indeed I am going to be watching videos on this thing, I'm gonna want to take my grand collection of anime with me [I mean come on, I have a 3 hour break in between classes right now, FTW ELSE DO YOU WANT ME TO DO? (don't mention a laptop because I WILL bite you)] and I dunno if/how I'll be able to convert files from DivX to the new H684.59863.565?...... something or other.

Besides that it looks sweet as hell, and Kaizuko did start making One Piece in that format so other subbers may end up doing the same (dun dun dun) of course it doesn't support .ogm which sucks, but is as ovious as it not supporting .nkl (I think that's what it was...).

So, eh... yeah I'm gonna wait and see, then again I could always go with the retro look:

MMM... Pez...
That is all.

Chupa, you could grab an iRiver PMP-140. 5 Inch colour LCD screen, 40 GB hard drive, MP3 support, DivX support, and other stuff. It kicks ass as well, and costs alot less.

The main concern I have with the iRiver is that I just simply don't know it's software, I'm a big iTunes user (only to sort music, never to download) and I like the simplicity of that piece of software... I have no idea what iRiver uses, so... eh... well I just don't know.

If the software's not that bad I guess I'll look into it, after all, I could probably find other software that can be used on the iRiver, heck maybe even iTunes? No? Yes? o.o

That is all.

Re: The Official iPod Thread

Have people noticed that people are generally referring portable music devices as iPods? Like GoldenChaos said, people are oblivious to all of the other mp3 players out there. Not only that, but whenever my principal talks about PMD's he usually calls them iPods, and it makes me want to drink some tar.

iPods are for those who either:

1. Can steal really good
2. Can have money really good
3. Can't think for themselves
4. Normal people who have been posessed (can't generalize now can we? )

I'll fix your list... iPods are for people who are:

1) Too close-minded to think for themselves, so they let popular trends and advertisements sway them.

iRiver is as simple as it can get. Drag and Drop using Windows Explorer, and you can create playlists on Winamp or something similar. It's never been easier, and you don't have to install some software on every single computer to transfer files between the iRiver and computer.

Why do you guys keep refering to people who own an iPod as people who just want to be part of a crowd.
I want one, not for popularity (even though no one at my school cares if you have one) but for having all my music in one small convienient place so I can access it when I want. And as I see it the iPod is the best mp3/whatever player there is. Plus I think that they're bring out iTunes stores so you can walk into the store and buy wht ever songs you want.

Re: The Official iPod Thread

I have one, a Silver Mini 4Gb, and I won it. I'd wanted one for ages, not because everyone wants one, but because it's too cute. I wanted a pink or blue one but hey it was free.

As for the argument that iTunes is annoying, I kinda like it. I don't like the fact that you need a credit card just to sign up for the store, especially if you only want to download the free single of the week, but I have no need to buy songs off the net as I have over 850 CDs and my collection is still growing.

Also, Sony's Sonic Stage software is waaaaaay more annoying than iTunes.

Re: The Official iPod Thread

iTunes is great. It's the idea of a single device holding pretty much every CD you've ever owned. It's just unecessary, unecessary to the point of the price of iPods being ridiculous. Bring a couple of CD's and a CD player along with you to wherever you go. It's all you need.

iTunes though, is a great way to organize all of my music, and it blows Windows Media Player out the wall.

I wouldn't steal it for that reason, I have nothing against Apple, I just don't feel like giving up that much money.

Well, yeah that too obviously. I'm quite content with my minidisc player and my cd player, but a free iPod would be orgasmic. (60 gig)

There are better, cheaper alternatives out there. Some where you don't have to go through some DRM ****, or iTunes just to transfer music over to.

The 40GB iRiver H340 is around £279. Not sure what that is in dollars. the PMP series has been discontinued, but I think iRiver are producing a new alternative in the future. I'm sure the H340 can play videos.

Re: The Official iPod Thread

Oh forget it... this whole reviews and other's opinions things is just too freakin' biased, next time I see someone with an iRiver I'll tackle them and try it out, after all I've already used a few iPods so I know what to expect from them, but yeah I've never used an iRiver so I'll just try that out and see what happens.

Oh and by the way, iRivers are indeed more expensive:

iRiver
iPod Photo
iPod video without the discount.

10 extra GB for the same price? That seems like a good deal to me.

That is all.
