Both are sexy, and both kick the iPod's ass in both user functionality and looks. In my opinion of course. Others are suffice to disagree, but then again, it's down to user preference.
The only problem with a shuffle is the battery will last about 5-6 hours max and then bang its dead and dont think you can recharge then at any pc you have to have "Admin Rights"

Well, you're forgetting the other problem with the shuffle (no screen). I mean come on, you get 1GB of space. You should at least have the pleasure of knowing whats on IMO.

Whew man, I really do hate those things.
What?! Then why do we spend so much time in the Apple Store? You seemed to adore those things. If I was more into mainstream music, I probably would as well.

Re: The Official iPod Thread

I have an iPod mini and I absolutely hate it. It's pathetic how they break and malfunction so easily. I hate the clickwheel. It always goes way too far, or doesn't go far enough. Every time I try to select something, it rolls one notch too far, which results in me struggling against my iPod for 5 minutes to get a song playing.

I don't know why I bought it, but I think it was because of the price tag. Soon enough, I'll be ditching it for an iRiver. I miss my old iHP-140 and soon I'll have one again.

And yes, it is rather annoying to see every person and their grandmother owning an iPod. It's also annoying to see people ditch their Minis for Nanos in a day or so after it was shipped. It's basically the same thing, except it has color, it gets lost more easily and the screen and basically everything else look like scratch city after a week of use .

iThink iPods are pretty much useless if you have a computer, or lets say, a Walkman.

I have a Mini iPod, I have no desire to get a Nano. *Growls at oncoming people*

Stay back. *Pets* I love my Mini.

Seriously though, they are dead useful, and I can't tell you how much help it's been when I've wanted random music off of the radio . Of course, when it gets problems, it's a major pain in the ass to fix... you may find that out if yours ever has trouble. You know what I mean... *nudge*

I'm getting a Nano with the 2-year warranty and unlimited help access (Regular calls for help cost near $50 a pop) My nano is colored black, and has "Seriously." engraved on it. I was thinking about "I can't believe how awesome I am", or "See me, feel me, touch me, STEAL me", but I like homestarrunner.com so much, I just put "Seriously.". ASIDE form that, it gots 1000 songs to hold. And to all the iPod haters, here's a message from Sauron:

Right, because everybody takes their PC with them wherever they go. Fits easily into any typical pocket.

And why carry 20+gigs worth of music when you can limit yourself to 700mb on a data disk, aye? Useless indeed.

It's probably one of the best things I've ever bought. I got a 30GB photo, and I'm using about 20GB of it. I take it everywhere, and it's really useful for driving long distances.

I don't have an ipod but i have a 20GB Creative (which is exactly the same as a 20GB ipod just Ł100 cheaper) and thats great for me i take it most places and you just can't get bored when there's that many songs on it. Saves changing albums all the time on my walkman.

Re: The Official iPod Thread

I'm honestly thinking of getting myself a nano with my b-day money (Nov. 20 if anyone wants to donate ) but I'm not too sure yet, it'll probably depend on how much money I get...

Anyway, I personally think that minis are fugly :\ and even though I'm not getting a nano just because of it's awesome shiny gleam of doom, I don't like owning things that I think are dumb looking.

WHY DO YOU WANT A NANO? -Because I love podcasts, and that's what I would listen to the majority of the time, sure I listen to music but I don't have more than 2GB+ worth of worthwhile music, however the podcasts I listen to have taken about 4GB out of my HD just from this last week... I'm a fanatic, what can I say?

Anyway, I may want to start a podcast myself, also, and having a crap-load of space to record whenever I want would be nice as well...

Does anyone here actually own one of these things? If so, what's it like (I've held one in my hand and I love the click wheel, but I haven't used one for an extended period), UNBIASED opinions ONLY please >>

That is all.

I've got a 6 gig mini running Linux/Poke-Zilla (alternative to Podzilla) and it's great. Right now I'm using all but 88MB. I've been thinking about upgrading to a full size iPod and now I probably will because of the new iPods released today.

Re: The Official iPod Thread

i must say, i am not an ipod lover. they're way too mainstream, it seems like everyone has one these days. and i don't like how they look. i have an iriver H10 and it looks a lot better, has amazing sound (32 EQ presets, including SRS WOW! yay!), and is really fast. the only reason apple is alive is becuse of the ipod, and all those useless and ridiculous accessories they've put out (who needs a flashlight/laser pointer on they're mp3 player anyway?). not enought people buy their computers. i am completely satisfied with iriver, and will not ever buy an ipod.

I have a 60GB Creative Nomad Jukebox Zen Extra. *phew* Golly, that's a long name. That's why I like to affectionately refer to it as my Zen-pod. *pets* But yeah, I love it sooooo much. It can hold up to 8,000 songs, and it only cost around $300. Plus, the sound quality it generates is so amazing. I love my little Zen-pod! ^_^ *pets it again* And plus, I don't like how Apple is trying to take over the world with their iPods. Rebel!!!

Consider this: When you're going on a long trip, you're likely to have a place to put some extra CDs.

When you're going on a short trip, you don't need all of your music.

I'm still happy with my Sony Walkman. It has great battery life -- over 40 hours on 2 AAs, and it rarely skips.
