Fire Fox is going crazy!

I just got a notification about how Firefox 7 is now available. Well...what the ♥♥♥♥? We were just barely on 6!

Hmmm.
I must download another one?

Ummm, slowly scrolling down an already rendered webpage shouldn't be choppy and certainly should not be taking 70 to 80+ percent of my CPU. Firefox sucks now =\ (for me)

What's everyone else's experience? What resources is it using?

I haven't upgraded to 7 yet, so I don't know.

Chrome FTW

I can't switch to Chrome. Fire Fox is my Rick Astley. Has been since the beginning of time. But what's with all the updating?

It seems about exactly the same for me. I dunno what's different.

But for those that don't know, Mozilla decided it was a better idea to release versions like 6 and 7 faster rather than go 6.x.x to make it appear like they're keeping up with Chrome's release schedule.

Which I think is stupid as hell when you can't even pinpoint what changed in a whole version upgrade.

Wow, how far you have fallen Firefox... at least it's not as bad as Disney or Rare.

Chrome, the spyware browser that gives your computer a unique ID and logs each and every web site you visit and sends it back to Google for targeted advertising purposes? Both Google's tightening grip on privacy and Firefox's larger addon support are why I still use Firefox over Chrome.

Yeah I've noticed this as well, and it doesn't seem like they're slowing down either. Both Firefox 8 and 9 are already being tested and are due for release this year, and Firefox 10 is going to be released early next year. In fact, based on their release dates, it seems like they're aiming for a new version every month. I just downloaded 7, and at a glance there's not really anything different from 6. It does seem like 7 should be 6.x or something.

I switched to Chrome a while ago, because this one site wouldn't load videos properly in FireFox, and Jodd was always telling me to switch anyway. I miss a few addons, but Chrome has been running a little better on my system, anyway.

I'm still on 6 but I suggest you turn off hardware acceleration in the browser options. I have a very good PC but all it did for me was blur the type. Turning it off made things look better, and I suspect it might help you as well.

I turned it off and it didn't help; CPU usage is through the roof. I don't get why it needs to do that...

^ I'm afraid to update to 7 now. Maybe you should downgrade?

Most of my plugins (the reason I use FF) dropped support for the older versions of Firefox that worked well. Also, the older versions have security holes that are now too well known. I'll just not use Firefox unless I really need to use a plugin for something.

I dunno, I have 7 and I hardly notice any difference from 6.
I dunno what the problem could be. Mine usually only hogs resources when it's open for too long.
