I dont even know why I bother. Im using a PC right now for the first time in my life and it does not seem any more reliable then the Macintosh we have. It does seem cheaper though.

You get what you pay for I guess. Thats one thing that apple has on most PC manufacturers, although my moms HP laptop gets about 7 hours and she got it for 500 bucks.

Also, what version of windows are you using.

It has 3 GB RAM yet it's dual channel (this means that RAM should be 2GB, 4GB, 8GB...) - you basically have a cheap-o computer.

Macs are PCs.

Do you mean it's less stable, or you're having hardware issues?

If it's a stability issue it's the operating system, and any software running on top of it. If you are concerned with stability, then I reccomend you switch to an operating system known for its stability, such as GNU/Linux or FreeBSD.

If it's a hardware issue, then you simply bought from a bad manufacturer.

If you care about battery life then why did you get a laptop with bad battery life? It's not as if your computer accounts for the sum of every non-Apple PC manufacturer in existence. No, Apple is not the only ****ty manufacturer. Alienware, for example, has a long history of being even worse than apple when it comes to price, but ****ty manufacturers existing does not mean all manufacturers are ****. Just as your battery being **** doesn't mean you can't pick up a non-Apple laptop with seven hours of battery life.

Its not a HP and it isnt my computer. Its a Sony Vaio that costed like the same price as the macintosh we have. $1999

But the macintosh is a desktop. I know long battery life isnt exclusive to apple. But this thing has the fattest battery I have ever seen. At least the Apple batterys are tucked into the machine and not in the way. The HP PC that gets 9 hours is probably a really small netbook or something. If my dad saw this topic I think he would laugh at how closed minded everyone is ;;>.<;;

And by cheap I mean its fatter. It weighs more and it makes cracking sounds if you pick it up wrong. It does not feel as "solid" as one of Apples laptops.

Also a Mac might be a PC. But a Vaio is not a Insperon because it has the exact same stuff. Macintosh is just the name of the computer. And yeah I know. My dad told me macs used to have custom processors.

PC is now a computer that runs Windows out of the box. I just looked it up. Macs run a different OS and are built to do it really well. Example. One of my friends has a MacBook that gets 5 hours in OS X and only 2 in Windows. So the computer is made for OS X. To get most out of OS X. See my point?

With the attached battery which totally integrates, HP envy can almost last 20 hours.

I use Macs 2-3 times a week. In fact, I'm using one in about an hour for music production. I can't say I really enjoy it, but hey, I make the best of it.

My brother has a Vaio for half the price with 4GB RAM and the same processor. It's also 16.4 inches. it does not make any cracking sounds.

PC is a personal computer... Macintoshes are personal computers... Dell's (generally) are personal computers...

Edit: Just checked Apples website. They only offer 1066 DDR3 in thier computers. I don't even know if the boards support anything faster.

Also, DDR3 has been a long time catching on because it had issues with CAS latency and timing compared to DDR2 when it was first introduced.

latency was NEVER an issue with DDR3.

DDR3-1600 8-8-8 has more or less the same latency as DDR2-800 4-4-4 and DDR1-400 2-2-2 except it has double and quadruple the bandwidth.

according to apple, macs are PCs. Apple, I'm assuming spent a few million running that commercial. Present day macs ARE PCs by their creator's own admission.

Right I never said Macs are not PCs. I just mean that you can still call them macs because its the name of the computer. When you buy a game and it says PC its means a computer that comes with Windows and not one that comes with Mac OS or is not Apple branded.

Yes, in the same way that you can still call a Dell computer a Dell. That said, it would seem strange to say "Should I get a Dell or a PC?" The reason being that Dells are a subset of PCs, just like Macs.

You, or your friend, rather, should consider contacting Sony for repair.

Personally, I don't buy Vaios. Not because they're not known for good build quality, but because their prices are a bit inflated. (Though not nearly to the extent that Macs are.)

Actually, did you know that Mac OS X will run on almost any kind of computer?

THIS is a Gateway Laptop that I got only a couple weeks ago, and if I just bought the OSX disc on, say, eBay, it'd work on this laptop. I've checked.

This laptop may not have 2 fans or 2 video cards, but this has an ATI Radeon Graphics Card, and it also has HD display, weighs about 8.2 pounds, 4GB DDR2 RAM, 320 GB HDD coupled with TWO Dual-Core Processors. I'm not saying it's better, but it's just right for gaming, graphics, 3D modeling, you name it.

It cost me $600, and I don't regret it.
