Keyboard problems.

I have two problems with my keyboard. Neither are too serious, or necessary for typing, but it would be nice to have them work.

The first problem is the backslash and the tilde buttons.(I think that's what it is. It's the one next to the 1 key.

The backslash will not work. With shift it works (|). Pressing it once does nothing. Pressing it twice I get this °°.
The tilde button works (`), but when pressed with Shift you have to press it twice (~` or ~~).

The other problem. Alt+Keypad no longer works. Number Lock on or off, it doesn't work. I don't get anything. At all.

I only use these on rare occasions, but I'd still like them to work. Any solutions?

Most likely it's your keyboard language that is wrong.

It depends on your country, mostly English-US

I messed around with the keyboard settings and no dice.

Are you running Windows or Linux? You could change your keyboard language pretty easily in Linux. I'm not sure how to do it in Windows, but it shouldn't be much harder. It's probably in the control panel somewhere.

Here's how to do it in Windows Vista, at least:

Control Panel --> Regional and Language Options --> Keyboards and Languages - Change Keyboards...

Then change it to the one you want.

Try English (US), since that's your region. I think that should do the trick...what is it currently set to?

English (United States) - United States-international

EDIT: I'M ABOUT TO THROW THIS GODDAMN KEYBOARD AT THE ****ING WALL!
EDIT2: "Have you tried pressing Ctr + Shift (left and/or right)? That sometimes switches the keys around." So now the \ key works...

The name of the keyboard layout that you should be using is "English (United States) - US", not international.
