Best program for using 360 controller on PC?

Okay so I've already got my computer to recognise my controller, and for the most part JoyToKey is doing a great job.

However.

With JoyToKey, I can map almost every button, and I can hold down a button to change what the other ones do (example, hold LB so the left stick is a mouse instead of WASD, or A B X Y are attacks, hold down RB and A B X Y are menu buttons.) I can't configure my right analogue stick movements or the triggers though, which is a problem, and I need the space.

I've then gone on to try Xpadder, which let's me configure every button including the right stick and triggers, but I don't have the much needed functionality of holding down a button to change the other buttons' functions.

So, what I'm asking is; Is there a way to configure the right stick and triggers in JoyToKey or, is there a program that lets you configure every button on a 360 controller as well as let me hold down a button to change the others?

Just so you know, I need both of these things in one because it's an MMORPG I plan on playing with a controller (no, not WoW.) There are 8 buttons for attacks, then about 8 for different windows, 8 for items, you get the picture.

Any help is appreciated.

I use Xpaddler. It basically tricks the computer into thinking your using a keyboard, so its compatible with every game a keyboard is.

You missed his point. He has tried Xpadder. What he needs is a program that will allow mapping of several keys to one button. Example, say you make R1 stand alone as "R". But, if you hold down L1 and then hit R1 it will do "T". At least this is what I think he's asking.

I don't really have any advice. If its an mmo though it probably is best to play on a keyboard anyway in my opinion.

Re: Best program for using 360 controller on PC?

Squall: Yeah, you got the idea with the several buttons mapped to one button. In JoyToKey, you can map something like 6 different buttons onto one button, it's really great. It just seems incredibly strange that the triggers and right stick aren't configurable. I mean, how many people use 360 pads for shooters on their PC? You literally couldn't do it without the right stick and triggers.

I know what you mean about using a keyboard, but this particular MMO is new as is pretty much supposed to be a console experience. Its combat is kind of like that in a Tales of _____ game.

Anyway, it's Dragonica. It's sidescrolling, so you don't need a camera configured, and a lot of the attacks can be done via shortcuts in the game. ie instead of having to set a regular attack to B, a launching attack to X and a slamming down from air move to Y, you can do those all with B, up-B and down-B. It also makes other shortcuts in the game, for example giving almost every menu an F1 YES / F2 NO system. This means you don't need the mouse to go over to that place and you don't need to configure a left click (though you can, it wastes space.)

So yeah, it's designed with using a controller in mind. I can play it with JoyToKey if I sit at my keyboard for opening windows, but if I could do the multiple buttons on one with the triggers and especially the right stick, it's be a breeze.

Squall answered this well already.

So basically you didn't read the first post in the thread, meaning your "answer" is invalid and is effectively a +1 post for you.

Hey. Oh you better believe I read it. Merely sharing my opinion on what's the best program for using 360 controller on PC, that is the name of the topic after all. Unfortunately I cannot help further other than the suggestion, just like the two posters above my first post.

Good luck.
