Question: Moving DVDs to iTunes?
I want to convert one of my DVDs to a movie file on iTunes, so I can download it onto my iPod, but I can't seem to find any option allowing me to do this.
Does anyone know how it can be done? |

Re: Question: Moving DVDs to iTunes?
Very, very, very unlikely iTunes itself lets you do that.
Instead of just using "let me Google that for you", though, let me link you to the very first result a Google search came up with.

Re: Question: Moving DVDs to iTunes?
Ah, hmm...so I need to download a DVD ripping package. I had hoped that iTunes had a simple option that I'd overlooked.
Ah well, I just hope it's virus free. I've got McAfee installed, at any rate, so I should be safe. Thanks for your help!I'll update this post if it works, in case anyone else wants to try it out. |

Whether that particular one is good or not I have no idea. I think what you should ask people for in this thread is a recommendation on a good one.

Once that's done, I'll use the other program, Videora iPod Converter, to convert it into an iTunes file.Quote:
I suspect the reason that iTunes doesn't have one is more to do with financial reasons than software - there'd be less demand for movies in the iTunes store if people could just rip their own DVDs. Quote:
Edit: Okay, I'm now converting the chapters (it's a music DVD) into files to be placed in iTunes. It seems to be working fine so far! The first two chapters have already successfully been installed to iTunes. |

Three programs needed to transfer a DVD onto an iPod? GG Apple.

Re: Question: Moving DVDs to iTunes?
Tell me about it.
![]() Well, I managed to install my video onto my iPod successfully last night. Just a couple of pointers though for other people who might want to try this method: 1) Videora iPod converter can be a little tricky - I kept getting 100325 error messages the first few times. It turns out to avoid getting these messages, you need to make sure you've got your music files stored in their own custom folder. Then, click "Settings" up the top, then the "Converter" toolbar, and change the default Output directory to your custom folder. For some reason, changing it during the conversion process doesn't work. 2) If you want to break the movie up into chapters (for instance, if it's a music DVD), at the DVD Decrypter stage, click "Tools --> Settings", then click the "IFO Mode" toolbar, then change the "File Splitting" to "By Chapter". |

What's right with McAfee?
On a lighter note, it's good to hear it worked.
