foobar vs. Songbird

I just reformatted my computer, and I'm at the point where I need to choose a media player. Of course, I'm not going to use Windows Media Player, and I hate iTunes with the intensity of a thousand suns, but I do love foobar, and I thought Songbird was pretty cool. I'm not sure if I'm really up to spending hours upon hours customizing foobar again. So should I just go with Songbird?

Re: foobar vs. Songbird

I just have foobar with a nothing-fancy customization. I didn't really spend any time throwing all these bells and whistles on it. (I mean, I could just export my theme and give it to you if you want anything other than the foobar default.) But I like foobar. I can't comment on Songbird, though, as I've never tried it.

Re: foobar vs. Songbird

Songbird = iTunes Light. It has the same obnoxious RAM usage (up to 300mb), it's very buggy (I used the "stable" version and it crashed about as much as iTunes), but it does have the advantages of a nice format selection and a decent skinner.

And by the way - you can minimize the customization time a lot with foobar now with the newer versions. I love the media library function! <3

Re: foobar vs. Songbird

foobar if you want a low resource player.

If you've got plenty of RAM to go around, you can use Songbird and take advantage of its addons.

Re: foobar vs. Songbird

I just use Winamp, but only install the bare-bones music player parts. I have CCCP for my video-playing needs. This solution works pretty well for me.
