So exactly why isn't it win worthy?

Mostly the quality of the main image. That's most people's concern.

The other one in the thread had a nice theme, although it was executed extremely badly and made me want to gouge out my eyes, it was interesting.

Yours looks very stock and looks like it could be an official Nintendo wallpaper, take this comment how you want, but I dunno.

And to be honest, I didn't like either : P

I agree that the other had a nice theme. They had a triforce going, with (well-done) silhouettes of the characters holding each piece, then they had each of the Goddesses zooming in towards the triforce, with background reinforced by cryptic-looking handwriting in the background. That looks like it took a lot of time and effort, and if it wasn't for the problems it had with it (way too saturated, white specks ruined some of it), I'd probably be using it as my wallpaper or something.

In contrast to that, it looks like you cut out a bad quality picture of Link on a boat and stuck in on an ocean scene and then a red background. It's clear that it's a wallpaper, but it just doesn't smell of love.

Not that I voted or anything, but you wanted critique. <_<.

I'd take the "looks offical like Nintendo" as a compliment.
I actually created this like 2 days before the due date and I remember I didn't have any ideas. Then of course as it started, more came to me. Oh well. Anyways, I didn't really have time to overlook it that much like that but the cloud inconsistancy does stick out to me, and most of those other things.
And honestly, I haven't cared for computer graphics for a while. Haven't had any ideas or creativity. :[
I actually wanted to make the map as the b/g instead of the red.

It's not win worthy because it's the min cover copied with few simple additions. I think it does look like nintendo made it because 90% of it was by nintendo.

If you added creativity next time, you would have made it. Even if you swap pics around. I'd put the Link drawing on his map pic with a phantom behind him about to strike and the fairy shouting the classic: "HEY!" would have looked good, and origonal.
But what do I know? I have no experience in anything artistic.

Actually, I want that for my sig now that I thnk about it...could you be kind and make that for me?

DSL9, you've got to be joking, right? Not to be harsh, but seriously.

It 'looks official like Nintendo' because they did make it, except for the few adjustments which you've made. So I wouldn't take that as a compliment.

The poor quality and the editing of something which wasn't originally made by you, shows why it isn't 'win worthy'. Also, it doesn't look as if it took much time and effort at all, maybe around 10-20 mins? It's just how it looks, man. I honestly think someone like you could of done a much better job, yeah. :/ Kinda disappointing.

You asked why, so I'm just giving my opinion.
