Miss Ash Portfolio [web]

Ok. I DID post this in the showcase, but did not read the rules first *slaps hand*.
I was really hoping not to post a thread since I barely have anything to show. But I guess everyone has to start somewhere.

I believe majority people know that I am studying to be a web designer.

It's such a hard thing for people to make such a professional job when majority of 13 year olds already know how to use HTML and coding, so you can sneer at me all you like ^_^;

I'm here to ask for some critic with post implementation of any websites I will be building, so I can have as much feedback as possible. Practise makes perfect! I tend not to know too many people who actually understand how important it is to have a good critic about any sort of creative work. *sighs*

AND I'm here.

First up.
Mock Requirements:
Colour: Black, Red, White, And Grey
Position: Something new and fresh (I tried)
Buttons: A set number (which was achieved)
Logo: Kept the same, no alterations (again, achieved)
Font: Same as above (again, achieved)

That was all I was given as a test. Here is the end result.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/09.../blackcase.png

Done in Photoshop CS2/3, 1 hour sketch (good old fashion pen and paper) and 5-6 hours designing (since this was actually my first time using photoshop ;_; ).

So any feedback would be great (even personal ones, but you have to explain why :> ) and thanks.

hmmm... you fullfilled it quite well. Was that custom or did you use images and the like?

I created the whole thing from stratch. The only thing that was "given" to me was the logo "blackcase" by its own i.e. (didn't have the reflected underneath).

Oh, and the "advert" (that white block at the bottom, left hand side) which I took from their original website, so they can have an idea of what they could put in the space.

Very cool. I like the vibe it gives off; Sort of a clean, modern look. Very nice, and it looks very professional, too.

Wow. Absolutely amazing. Honestly, if you hadn't of said that was your first time using photoshop, I would have thought you'd been using the program for years. It looks nice and fresh, and very professional. Seriously, that's a really great job. I'm sure you're gunna be an awesome web designer.

Wow... I saw that and it's awesome. I do some webdesign on my free time but nothing comes close to that. I wouldn't have guessed it's your first time using Photoshop either. The pattern in the back and the shadow on the logo are subtle but add a lot to the design.

The mouseover button looks great too, but... one question: what goes in the black space between the buttons? The changing information? (so the passage at the right is constant?) I'm just wondering, cause I know functionality is as important as looks and... well, that black spot is kinda useless if it's just there, lol. If it does change though, something should be put in it as default when first seeing the page instead of just black... something like welcome to the site blah blah, etc.

The only other thing that bothers me (it's probably my monitor though - not the best thing in the world) is the smaller letters on the right look a little blurred... I know sometimes that's just the way it is with small sizes but just pointing that out... maybe make it a little larger or different font if possible? That's just nitpicking though haha ^^;

BTW, this might help you. It may be for Smack Jeeves, but I guess it would work on normal sites if you edited a few things here and there

Umm, I'm back (:

Busy busy college and I'm finially finished. Hazzar! Hazzar!

This is one (and last) of my college projects that we had to do. Make a working functional shopping cart from stratch.

Ayr Music - WELCOME!

You can log in, register, "buy" and browse.

Requirements:
A detailed design including algorithms;
A Test plan and Test history showing expected and actual results;
a fully working set of scripts, which:
~Show sequence, selection and iteration (i.e. your if, else if and while loops)
~Contain Modularity
~Are well documented with regard to internal comments
~Are able to generate HTML cose based on user validation
Form data which should be pre-processed/validated at the client side
Code which users alerts (javascript) to inform users
Events which should include;
~Mouse events
~Page Events
~Click Events
~Change Events
~Submit Events
Simple Cookie to store the user's name or other relevant details.

Just to remind you that this was done by stratch, and not just copy and pasted from tutrorials and premade code, so somethings are alittle .. "rough" i.e. If you refresh the page it may reorder, and only "member" can "buy" things...

But, ack well Just something else to add on.

Very, very nice. I've always like vector-ish stuff, and this looks very nice. Modern, and pretty cool looking, too. Great job.
As Ed6 said, if this wasn't one of your first times using CSS, I would've said you'd be using it for a while.

Right.

I have made a Summer plan that I at least design, create, build, and implement one design every week during my summer "holidays".

Practise makes perfect.

And I also wish to make an evaluation on each of these designs, but I would need feedback (obviously). This is where YOU come in I'm going to do shameless plugs, plugs, plugs like a hooker business card in a hilton hotel.

So stay tuned!

Cool cool cool. I really like the white cat silhouettes Very cute. And the background.

One thing id say is that overall its too light with only green and white. It needs contrast, like the drop shadows. But more otherwise you get a little lost.

Im guessing the logo is going to go in the big white bit in the top left? otherwise its blank.

For ome reason i have an issue with the photos on the right. Im not sure why....maybe i want them to all be the same shape or something? bah, im being lame... ignore me

Overall very nice, very cute, hehe.

Thank you for your comments guys.

HylianShroom. I see what you mean, and I have added more drop shadows to sperate the different areas. the images I shall keep as it it, because I'll lose the quality if I resize them and realistically I doubt clients would like myself to cut half their pictures due to size alignments. (who knows though)!

Here is the final design( minus some links D: ). Which I'm now away to build. But STILL give me feedback if any, in case I have a chance to change something that you think would better it :D.

Mock Requirements:

Target Audience:
Middle Age familes; Parents (either single or partners), with on average two children (young). Income Average. Computer experience Average.

Client Requirements:
Sense of home for clients, clearly labeled and well presented. Rich media. Enternal Comments and well documented.
Photos visiable (either within a gallery or throughout the website)
Online Form (PHP)
Links: Prices, Staff, Location, About Us, Facilities, Form, Contact Us.

Audience Requirements:
Quick to upload. Links clearly available and labelled. Attractive, inviting.

Ugh

*falls in* >.o
*stands up and dusts herself off* pfft, and I said I would be be -mumble mumble-

<.<

ANYWHO.

Remember that Harvey's Cattery website mock design? Yeah, refresh your memories... I'll wait.
~
Done? good. Well, I finally got on my arse (GET IT, ON my arse?! Since I work at the compu...no? *sighs*)... and finished the index page. ONLY INDEX PAGE! So don't try any other pages, heh.

Harvey's Cattery - Home

Minor changes were made due to FRUSTRATION OF BROWSER CAPABILITY *smashes a window!*
But apart from that, it looks pretty nice? Just give it to me straight if you completely disliked something, or anything could be worked on more-so.

~~~~~
Now that one is done, moving onto a new one.
This time it isn't a mock up. I have been asked to make this website for their business (who I shall be working with). I have previously made a website layout for them, which... they liked, but in my opinion was **** in a hole. But now, I'm more satisfied at this.
They wanted it fresh and continue with the light colour blues.
I have a couple of things to finish off like the "self-editing" logo, and also make an alternate design for the content background (that flowerly/victorian design) to be more modern, in case they dislike the original.
Now, I must pled that I would as much crictism, and helpful advice. You can't say "heck, that looks horrible..." please tell me what I can do to improve it :3
Copyright to all graphics. I did all, even the logos :]
Hm, awesome! : )
Though, on the "Products to Sell" section, I'm not sure if it would look good, but try making the gradient going downward? xD
I'd agree with sea.
Seriously, your stuff looks incredibly professional, and it all fits together perfectly. I'm lovin' the cat silhouettes on the Harvey's cat thing page, and the greens mix with the whites very, very well. On the shopping one, the logos look perfect, and it all blends together perfectly.
YOU HAVE A GIFT.
DON'T LET IT GO.
Compliments ensue.
WHERE HAVE I BEEN?!
Doing odd jobs actually. Yo, ho, ho.
Remember that websimply layout I did, well, that has fell through and no one has spoken to me about it as of yet - again, the business is going into the weirdest of things with the web and I'm just tagging along.
It's hard being a free lance o:
Anyway. I have 1/2 done the layout, I'll finish it to add to my portfolio.
Websimply version 2
There it is anyway.
BUT I do have big news too. I am creating a NEW layout for my Miss Smith
Excited as it is... I had been considering it for a long time. And as they say, practise makes perfect.
Now just the theme.... Things I am fasinated about. And recently, I have been fasinated about Gundam Or the models Gunpla. I have always <3 mecha <3 Samus and I want to develop it into my design.
A couple of days ago I made a rough sketch of the layout onto paper <3 and tonight I started to bring the large elements into scene.
Starting with a Gundam suit.
Your probably thinking. "OMG she is amazing". And I'm like. "I DIDN'T DO IT SENSEI..."
I based it off of this image.
So wish me luck. :3 I'm excited :[
