Link to the Laughs debut

Hey everyone!

Just posting up here to spread the word for the new webcomic I'm doing, Link to the Laughs. It's a LttP parody, using mainly SNES sprites. I'm using it to fill up my free time, as well as amusing myself whenever I don't want to keep writing more on my novel. The first 8 episodes are done, and the script is written up to Episode 12 (I write the scripts and rough drafts in a small notebook).

Where have I seen these before...AHA, you shamelesly self advertised these on Nuklear Power

I liked it and thought it was quite funny, Good show old chap
although i did notice a slight problem in #6 and 7, You enlarged the sprites, but not the background, Why?

I like the comic, the humor is good and the speech bubbles are nice, too.
Though, I would suggest to improve some things.
1: Episode 3 links to Episode 2. I can't read the real episode 3.
2: If you enlarge sprites, don't use any kind of Interpolation. There are some blurred sprites. It may be intended, but in my opinion, that doesn't look good.
3: Also, if you enlarge sprites, enlarge height and width equally. In Epsiode 6 and 7, there are some sprites with some pixels being larger than others.
4: Then there's that thing Mukora spoke of.

2. Link fixed for Episode 3. Episode 8 was added, as well.

3. As for the interpolation, I stopped using that after Episode 5. I was considering going back to redo the earlier strips, but I thought that my time would be better used plowing forward instead of fixing past problems. Besides, it shows the evolution of the comic strip over time

In the program that I'm using (PaintDotNet), I don't think there is a tool to uniformly expand the pixels. So I hold Shift down and eyeball it as best I can (looking into getting Photoshop).

I don't see that one. I enlarged the sprites, but I also enlarged the background. It's supposed to be a zoom-in shot.

There's a bit difference between Episode 5 and 6 in terms of format, size, and interpolation of sprites. Episodes 1-5 were done in Japan (on a Japanese computer, with a program I had never used before, and from a script that I wrote in my notebook between classes. It was also my first sprite comic.). Episode 6-8 were done when I got home from Japan, and had had time to think about possible changes to the comic.

Again, thanks for your feedback, and hopefully I'll have the next episode done soon. The story and humour ramps up in a big way after Episode 8.

Well, I'm using Paint.Net, too, and there is a way. I always put the sprites I want to enlarge into a new picture and then enlarge the whole picture (200%, 300% etc...).
Anyway, episode 8 is nice.^_^

Sorry I haven't had one up in a while. I was catching up on 3 months of backlogged homework from my Japanese exchange.

Here's Episode 9, for your viewing pleasure.

The comic got thinner (again), and I started using foreground objects.

This one was a bit confusing, how did Agahnim and Smithers get behind the king?

Tim and Smithers delivered the food (or rather, their henchmen did), and walked over behind the King's throne. The blue guard came back to talk with them, then moved back to his place beside the King, muttering under his breath (that's why the bubble is slightly transparent).

I'm glad the foreground/behind the King came across though, this was my first try at foreground objects.

Was anyone else confused? And should I go with this thinner format over the slightly wider format of Episode 6,7, and 8?

I'm good with Havok for a nickname. I always use either Havok or Havok Dryke when I'm online, so if you see someone elsewhere with that name it's probably me

Wow these are funny, no one has a ahgianim comic and it's funny.
your speech bubbles are very nice but what made this so grand was when ahgainim turned the guy to ash nice close ups! 9.5Yeah!

Episode 12 is out. You're lucky people, getting a comic every other day or so
With Episode 12 I started to experiment with 3D backgrounds, motion-blurs, and after-images, and I think the result came out very good.
