Re: Spriter's Hangout Ver. 6 -- The Shanty-pire Strikes Back

*face palm* okay, that's not quite what I meant. The waves don't get smaller because "the sea is getting calmer,", they get smaller because they get farther away. You know those pictures where people draw the train tracks going into the distance? That's called perspective and it's how light works. Things get smaller as they get farther away, so the wave 10 miles out to sea should look a lot smaller than the wave right in front of the camera, see? In your first picture, you drew about 100 feet of (very nice looking!) visible sea, but in real life you can see miles and miles of ocean. That's what I was hoping you'd do on your second go-round, but instead you made this (also quite nice looking, but out of place) wall of water that filled in twice the extra space it needed too. So try making the same waves as in your first picture, over and over, rows and rows of them. And make each row a little smaller than the row before it, until a row is only 1 pixel high. Then you'll have reached the horizon.

This should help:
Your Picture:.....................................Real Picture:

see the difference?

Nope its just the water is a orangeish yellow wich explains why the sun set and why theres a sparkly line of light that grows smaller as it gets away from the sun and closer to the camra. but If you wanted it to be a desert it could I suppose!

Hmm, Lurrrre, your sea looks much better now, but still a bit... Off...
Maybe try adding some variety to the waves?

YES! This is wonderful, Lurrrre! You understood exactly and performed perfectly. Your wave pattern was good to start with, and then when it got perspective it really came together.

And Anubis, while the repeated pattern seems like a bad thing, there is an advantage to it: if you split the ocean into horizontal sections, and scrolled them sideways at different speeds, it would look like you were moving! Like the original Mario Kart backgrounds did. Each repeat of smaller waves would move at its own speed, and look very real and nice. Now all you have to do is make a sky for it! In fact, make this one! Can you do it?

And isn't that the Zenan Bridge shiny on your Orange ocean?

He's talking to me and no I made the shiny but the Zenan Bridge's shiny did help to make that one,as far as getting it to look right and watery. I'm glad someone else hear on Zu likes Chrono trigger as much as me.

here more shine for the water so it doe'sn't look like a desert.

Re: Spriter's Hangout Ver. 6 -- The Shanty-pire Strikes Back

Me too.
And good god when did you guys get so good at water anyways?
These are ridiculously good!!

It's been getting colder outside, so I have had less chances to skate... which brought me to play Majora's Mask, it being the only Zelda game I never beat. I never made it past the Zora area when I was younger. XD
I always thought it was so complicated.
But not anymore.
Of course, I haven't gotten Oni Link yet, I just got past the third dungeon... but it brought me to look at GoldStud's old Oni Link.
And it looks so outdated compared to his revamped OOT Link.
I have been kinda out of ideas for spriting lately, so I decided to do this:

A newer Oni Link, in GS's style, geared more towards comic poses.
Screw animations, who here ever really used them for anything anyways? (Besides GS and Lurrrre! and their game.)

But I didn't edit. If you put them side by side, you can see that. Plus, a couple of them are obviously my own.
But it's not going to be a copy of GS's sheet I swear... they're just going to mimic a couple of things.
I plan on making the projectile attack, and many, many more random slashes people could use in comics... which would be my original stuff.

Re: Spriter's Hangout Ver. 6 -- The Shanty-pire Strikes Back

DUDE Holy cow I can tell those are good! But for some reason they got blurred! Try imageshack sorry I've got a million good things to say (especially the hair and the hat on pose #13) so re-upload and banish the blurr! It looks incredible you blew mine out of the water, I like your sword and chest armor symbols.

TFO why are you so good? I think sword slashes might be one of your specialties. The splash of pain at the bottom of your airborne slash is sweet! It is good because it shows the weight of the Fierce Oni's sword. I can tell you didn't edit (I've gotten pretty good at that...) I think you should animate him running... you need to have some animations. Animating makes you a better spriter. Just work a long time on 1 animation, and you'll see what you can accomplish.

I just made this guy for my cuz, don't let it stop you from commenting on TFO's magic.

Re: Spriter's Hangout Ver. 6 -- The Shanty-pire Strikes Back

Gs I like the guy he looks cool with his puffy coat and pant's, I really like the hair how it's average and not over done.

Thanks TFO though I like my new water better than my old

Tfo nice Oni link sprites and by the way you have to get all the masks to get the oni mask but its easy.
any way I like this link and how you did him, he's musculer even though he's blurred he has some awesomeness about it I mean look at the slash TFO its pretty and nicer than a fig in my trems its really good and the face pant is just like GS's but still TFo that sheet is awesome, have you tried to remake the hurt posses yet? those are what I'm after but holy cow good job!

Re: Spriter's Hangout Ver. 6 -- The Shanty-pire Strikes Back

Well aparently, I'm a plague to this forum... because almost every time I post I only get a comment from Lurrrre! and Goldstud... and then the place gets silent until I post again (which has the same effect), or some celebrity like PowerShot, or maybe even good ol' Bliz comes in and decides to start an ENTIRELY different conversation... again ignoring my work. This has been going on since... god knows when. I admit, I may have done it before, but I will make an effort to comment on everyone's work from now on.

Onto the real news, I can has update:

I fixed alot of shading on Oni-Link, made two hurt poses, dashing, the magic attack, and finally gave him a sheet with my name on it.
Don't get the idea that I'm done with Oni-Link though... I still plan on making a couple more slashes and maybe some item use.
That brings me to this question: can Oni-Link equip the hookshot on Majora's Mask? Can you use the bean plant if you hack it to get out of the boss area as him? And can he use the bow?

Re: Spriter's Hangout Ver. 6 -- The Shanty-pire Strikes Back

Woo TFo the beam slash she is bueatiful and I like thatit likes like his rolling the sword handle like doe to get friction and charge the sword beam cut of power rather him just throwing it with ease.
Yes the hurt posses are good but there is a hurt pose missing you feeb.
this one:
the gut punch from the original link.

any way woot Tfo nice sprites I mean really there like awesome and as far as bow and beans go um? make him doit so you have the posese for other things and good thing for the realistic humany muscley STyle of spriteing Mastered by me Created by GoldStud yes POYO or just POY style.

FD Link can't use ANY items in the game, but you might as well make them, if someone makes, Say, a game or comic they may want those poses. From what little experience I have spriting (reading tutorials) it's usually a good idea NOT to limit yourself to only things the character can do in-game.

Re: Spriter's Hangout Ver. 6 -- The Shanty-pire Strikes Back

Just a thought: Why actually sprite him doing those things? Why not just make sprites of the items themselves being used, and then have people who want to use those items in comics just mix those two sprites?
